5. Setup
5.1 Connecting the Phone
- Attach the Desk Stand: Align the stand with the slots on the back of the phone and snap it into place.
- Connect the Handset: Plug one end of the coiled handset cord into the handset and the other end into the handset port on the phone base.
- Connect to Network: Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the phone and the other end into a network switch or router. If using PoE, the phone will power on automatically.
- Connect Power (if not using PoE): If PoE is not available, connect an appropriate power adapter (not included) to the power port on the phone and then to a power outlet.
- Connect PC (Optional): If you wish to connect a computer through the phone, plug an Ethernet cable from your PC into the PC port on the phone.
5.2 Initial Configuration
Upon first boot, the phone will attempt to obtain network settings via DHCP. If your network uses static IP addresses or requires specific SIP server details, you may need to configure these manually:
- Access the phone's menu by pressing the Menu or OK button.
- Navigate to Settings > Advanced Settings (you may need an administrator password).
- Configure Network settings (DHCP/Static IP) and SIP Account details as provided by your VoIP service provider.
- Save changes and reboot the phone if prompted.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Making Calls
- Lift the Handset or press the Speaker button.
- Dial the desired phone number using the numeric keypad.
- Press the Dial soft key or wait a few seconds for the call to connect automatically.
6.2 Answering Calls
- When the phone rings, lift the Handset or press the Speaker button.
- Alternatively, press the Answer soft key.
6.3 Using DSS Keys
The 2.4-inch side display shows programmable DSS keys. These can be configured for speed dial, Busy Lamp Field (BLF), line keys, or other functions. Press the corresponding physical button next to the side display to activate the assigned function.
6.4 Voicemail
When you have new voicemail messages, the message waiting indicator (MWI) will flash. Press the dedicated Voicemail button to access your voicemail box and follow the audio prompts.
6.5 Call Features
- Hold: During an active call, press the Hold button. Press it again to resume the call.
- Transfer: During an active call, press the Transfer button, dial the new number, and then press Transfer again (blind transfer) or wait for the other party to answer before pressing Transfer (attended transfer).
- Conference: During an active call, press the Conference soft key, dial the second party, and once connected, press Conference again to join all parties.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the phone's surface. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check with your VoIP service provider or Fanvil's official website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and access to new features.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Dial Tone: Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected and the phone is receiving power (either via PoE or power adapter). Check network connectivity.
- Cannot Make/Receive Calls: Verify that your SIP account is registered. Check network settings and firewall configurations. Contact your VoIP service provider for assistance.
- Display Not Working: Ensure the phone is powered on. If the issue persists, try rebooting the phone.
- Poor Audio Quality: Check your network connection for stability. Ensure the handset cord is properly connected.
