4. Setup Guide

4.1 Battery Installation

Both the transmitter and receiver require batteries for operation. Open the battery compartment on the back of each unit and insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

4.2 Connecting to Devices

The AU-WM730 is compatible with various recording devices.

  • For DSLR Cameras/Camcorders: Use the included 3.5mm TRS cable. Connect one end to the "OUTPUT" port on the receiver and the other end to the microphone input jack on your camera/camcorder.
  • For Smartphones (iOS/Android): Use the included 3.5mm TRS to TRRS audio cable. Connect the TRS end to the "OUTPUT" port on the receiver and the TRRS end to the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack on your smartphone. If your phone does not have a 3.5mm jack, you will need a suitable adapter (not included). For some Android phones, you may need to download a third-party camera app like "OPEN CAMERA" for proper microphone recognition.
  • For Computers: Connect the receiver to your computer's microphone input using the appropriate cable (may require an adapter depending on your computer's ports).

4.3 Pairing Transmitter and Receiver

The transmitter and receiver are typically pre-paired. If they lose connection or you need to pair them manually:

  1. Power on both the transmitter and the receiver.
  2. Ensure both units are set to the same frequency. Refer to the "Operating Instructions" section for changing frequencies.
  3. The "AF" indicator on both units should light up, indicating a successful connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button on both the transmitter and receiver to turn them on or off. The LCD screen will illuminate upon power-on.

5.2 Attenuation and Low-Cut Function

The transmitter features a switch for attenuation and low-cut filtering:

  • -10dB: Reduces input sensitivity by 10dB. Use this setting to prevent audio clipping or distortion when recording loud sound sources.
  • Low-Cut (indicated by a waveform icon): Activates the low-cut filter, effectively shielding low-frequency sounds below 50Hz (e.g., wind noise, rumble) to make the human voice clearer.
  • Normal: Standard input sensitivity with no low-cut filter applied.

5.3 One-Key Mute Function

Both the transmitter and receiver have a mute button. Pressing this button will temporarily stop audio transmission without turning off the unit. Press it again to unmute.

5.4 Real-time Audio Monitoring

Connect headphones to the "PHONES" jack on the receiver to monitor the audio in real-time. This allows you to check sound quality and make adjustments during recording.

5.5 Changing Frequencies (48 Channels)

The system offers 48 selectable UHF frequencies to avoid interference. If you experience interference, change the frequency on the receiver. The transmitter will automatically sync to the new frequency. To change the frequency, use the navigation buttons on the receiver to select a different channel.

The operating range is up to 250 feet (line of sight) in open areas without obstacles. For optimal performance, ensure a clear line of sight between the transmitter and receiver.
