Operating the Watch

Timekeeping

Your Sekonda Model 1686 watch is powered by a precise quartz movement, providing accurate timekeeping. Once the time is set, the watch will operate continuously until the battery requires replacement.

Day/Date Function

The watch includes a day/date display. This feature automatically advances the day and date at midnight. If the watch has been stopped or the date needs correction, refer to the 'Setting the Time and Date' section.

Water Resistance

This watch is water-resistant up to 30 meters (3 ATM). This means it is suitable for everyday use and can withstand splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not suitable for swimming, showering, or diving. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is wet to prevent water ingress.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

To maintain the appearance of your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, dry cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the strap becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally.

Battery Replacement

The watch requires one LR44 battery. When the watch stops or the hands move erratically, it is an indication that the battery needs to be replaced. Battery replacement should be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and water resistance.

Storage

When not in use, store your watch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. The original watch box provides excellent protection.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: Check if the crown is fully pushed in (position 1). If it is, the battery may need replacement.
  • Incorrect Time/Date: Refer to the 'Setting the Time and Date' section to reset.
  • Condensation Under Crystal: This indicates moisture ingress. Stop using the watch immediately and have it inspected by a professional to prevent further damage.
