Key Components:

Setup

Follow these steps for initial setup of your atomic wall clock:

  1. Install Battery: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the clock. Insert one fresh AA battery, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -).
  2. Select Time Zone: Before the clock attempts to set itself, locate the time zone switch on the back of the clock (refer to Figure 2). Set it to your desired time zone:
    • PST: Pacific Standard Time
    • MST: Mountain Standard Time
    • CST: Central Standard Time
    • EST: Eastern Standard Time
  3. Initial Synchronization: Once the battery is installed and the time zone is set, the clock hands will automatically move to the 12:00 position. The clock will then begin searching for the atomic time signal from Fort Collins, Colorado. This process can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours, especially if the signal is weak or during daytime. For best reception, place the clock near a window, facing towards Colorado if possible.
  4. Automatic Time Setting: Once the signal is received, the clock will automatically set itself to the correct time for your selected time zone, including adjusting for Daylight Saving Time (DST) automatically.
  5. Manual Time Setting (Optional): If the clock does not set itself automatically after 24 hours, or if you are outside the reception range, you can manually set the time using the buttons on the back of the clock. Refer to the "Troubleshooting" section for more details on manual setting.
  6. Mounting: The clock features a keyhole slot on the back for easy wall mounting. Ensure you use a sturdy screw or hook capable of supporting the clock's weight.

Operating

The Adalene Atomic Wall Clock is designed for minimal user intervention once set up.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity and performance of your clock.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Clock does not set automatically.Weak atomic signal, incorrect time zone setting, low battery.
  • Ensure the time zone switch is correctly set.
  • Place the clock near a window, away from electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Try placing the clock in a different location, especially overnight when signal reception is often stronger.
  • Replace the battery with a fresh AA alkaline battery.
  • If still unsuccessful, proceed to manual time setting.
Clock hands are stuck or not moving.Dead or low battery, hands are obstructed.
  • Replace the battery with a fresh AA alkaline battery.
  • Gently check if the hands are bent or touching each other or the clock face. If so, carefully straighten them.
Clock is displaying the wrong time.Incorrect time zone, failed synchronization, DST issue.
  • Verify the time zone switch setting.
  • Remove the battery for 1 minute, then reinsert it to force a new synchronization attempt.
  • If the clock is off by exactly one hour after a DST change, ensure the DST setting (if available on your model, check the back) is correct or allow it to re-synchronize overnight.

Manual Time Setting:

If automatic synchronization fails, you can manually set the time:

  1. Ensure a fresh AA battery is installed.
  2. Locate the manual set buttons on the back of the clock (often labeled "SET" or with arrows).
  3. Press and hold the appropriate button to advance the hands until the correct time is displayed. Some models may have separate buttons for hour and minute adjustment.
  4. Once the time is set, the clock will continue to operate as a standard quartz clock. It may still attempt to receive the atomic signal periodically.
