Figure 2: Labeled Diagram of Microscope Components
- WF10X (20mm) Eyepiece: Provides 10x magnification.
- Monocular Diopter Adjustment Knob: For adjusting focus for individual eyes.
- Eyepiece Tube: Holds the eyepieces.
- Zoom Lens: Contains the objective lenses (2X and 4X).
- Objective Lens: Provides primary magnification.
- Lower Light Source: Transmitted LED illumination for transparent specimens.
- Base: Stable foundation of the microscope.
- Dimming Handwheel: Adjusts the brightness of the illumination.
- Stage (Frosted): Platform for placing specimens, includes stage clips.
- Stage Clips: Secure specimens on the stage.
- Upper Light Source: Incident LED illumination for opaque specimens.
- Focusing Knob: Adjusts the distance between the objective and the specimen for clear focus.
- Stand Column: Supports the microscope head and focusing mechanism.
Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
- Eyepiece Installation: Insert the wide-field 10X eyepieces into the eyepiece tubes. Ensure they are seated firmly.
- Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the microscope's power input and then to a suitable electrical outlet.
- Interpupillary Distance Adjustment: While looking through the eyepieces, adjust the distance between the two eyepiece tubes (55mm-75mm range) until you see a single, clear circular field of view.

Figure 3: Adjusting Interpupillary Distance
- Diopter Adjustment: If one eye requires a different focus, use the monocular diopter adjustment knob on one eyepiece to fine-tune the focus for that eye after focusing with the main knob for the other eye.
Operating Instructions
- Power On/Off: Use the main power switch located on the base of the microscope to turn the unit on or off.
- Placing a Specimen: Place your specimen on the frosted stage plate. Use the stage clips to secure it if necessary. For opaque specimens, the reversible black/white stage plate can be used to enhance contrast.

Figure 4: Microscope with Example Specimens
- Adjusting Illumination:
- Upper (Incident) Illumination: For opaque objects, use the dimmable incident LED light shining down onto the specimen. Adjust brightness using the dimming handwheel.
- Lower (Transmitted) Illumination: For transparent or translucent objects, use the dimmable transmitted LED light shining up through the frosted stage plate. Adjust brightness using the dimming handwheel.
- Selecting Magnification: The microscope features interchangeable 2X and 4X objective lenses. Rotate the objective lens housing to select the desired magnification. With the 10X eyepieces, this provides 20X or 40X magnification. With optional 20X eyepieces, 40X or 80X magnification is possible.
- Focusing: Use the focusing knob to bring the specimen into sharp focus. Start with the lowest magnification for easier initial focusing.
- Rotating the Head: The binocular head can be rotated 360 degrees, allowing for comfortable viewing from different angles or for multiple users to observe without moving the entire microscope.
- Digital Photography (Optional): An eyepiece camera (not included) can be inserted into one of the eyepiece tubes to capture digital images or video of your observations.

This video demonstrates the microscope's key features, including interpupillary distance adjustment, diopter adjustment, pillar stand focusing, incident and transmitted LED illumination, 360-degree rotatable head, reversible stage plate, objective lens selection, and digital photography capability via an eyepiece camera.
Maintenance
- Cleaning Lenses: Use a soft, lint-free cloth and a specialized lens cleaning solution to clean optical surfaces. Avoid touching lenses with bare fingers.
- Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, cover the microscope with a dust cover to protect it from dust and debris. Store in a dry, cool place.
- Electrical Safety: Always unplug the microscope before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No illumination | Power cord not connected; power switch off; dimmer set to minimum; LED bulb failure. | Check power connection and switch. Adjust dimmer. If problem persists, contact support. |
| Image is blurry or out of focus | Incorrect focusing; interpupillary distance not set; diopter not adjusted; objective lens not fully engaged. | Adjust focusing knob. Set interpupillary distance. Adjust diopter. Ensure objective lens is clicked into place. |
| Dark spots in the field of view | Dust or debris on eyepieces, objective lenses, or stage plate. | Clean eyepieces, objective lenses, and stage plate using appropriate cleaning methods. |
| Difficulty seeing details on opaque specimens | Lower (transmitted) illumination is on; insufficient upper illumination; incorrect stage plate. | Ensure upper illumination is on and adjusted. Use the black/white reversible stage plate for better contrast. |
