4. Setup

4.1. Powering On and Charging

  1. Connect the supplied Micro-USB to USB cable to the Micro-USB port on the side of the unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a powered USB port (e.g., a computer, USB wall adapter).
  3. The unit will begin charging. The display may show a charging indicator. A full charge provides approximately 7 hours of operation at 100% volume.
  4. Press and hold the Power button (usually combined with the Mode button) on the top of the unit to turn it on.

4.2. Initial Time Setting

Upon first use or after a prolonged power loss, you may need to set the time.

  1. In clock mode, press and hold the 'Time Set' button (refer to Figure 3.3 for button layout). The hour digits will begin to flash.
  2. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons (often combined with volume controls) to adjust the hour.
  3. Press the 'Time Set' button again to confirm the hour and move to minute adjustment. The minute digits will flash.
  4. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to adjust the minutes.
  5. Press the 'Time Set' button one more time to save the time and exit time setting mode.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Mode Selection

Press the 'Mode' button (often combined with the Power button) repeatedly to cycle through available modes: Bluetooth, FM Radio, Micro SD, and Aux-in.

5.2. Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Switch the unit to Bluetooth mode. The display will show 'BT' and an icon, indicating it is ready for pairing.
  2. On your mobile device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select 'Memorex MCB428B' from the list of devices.
  4. Once paired, the unit will emit an audible confirmation, and the Bluetooth icon on the display will become solid.
  5. You can now play audio from your device through the Memorex MCB428B. The wireless range is approximately 60 feet.

5.3. FM Radio Operation

  1. Connect the supplied rod antenna to the antenna port on the unit for improved reception.
  2. Switch the unit to FM Radio mode. The display will show the current frequency.
  3. Auto Scan: Press and hold the 'Play/Pause' button to automatically scan and save available FM stations.
  4. Manual Tuning: Briefly press the 'Previous' or 'Next' buttons to fine-tune the frequency.
  5. Navigate Presets: After auto-scanning, briefly press the 'Previous' or 'Next' buttons to cycle through saved stations.

5.4. Micro SD Card Playback

  1. Insert a Micro SD card (with MP3 audio files) into the Micro SD card slot on the side of the unit.
  2. Switch the unit to Micro SD mode. Playback should begin automatically.
  3. Use the 'Play/Pause' button to pause or resume playback.
  4. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to skip tracks.

5.5. Setting Alarms

The unit supports dual alarms.

  1. Press the 'Alarm 1' or 'Alarm 2' button (refer to Figure 3.3). The alarm time will flash.
  2. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to set the desired hour. Press the alarm button again to confirm.
  3. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to set the desired minutes. Press the alarm button again to confirm.
  4. Select the wake source: Micro SD, FM Radio, or a standard alarm tone. Use the 'Previous' and 'Next' buttons to cycle through options and press the alarm button to confirm.
  5. To activate or deactivate an alarm, briefly press the corresponding 'Alarm 1' or 'Alarm 2' button. An alarm icon will appear/disappear on the display.

5.6. Dimmer Control

The multi-step dimmer allows you to adjust the brightness of the LCD display.

  1. Press the 'Dimmer' button (refer to Figure 3.3) repeatedly to cycle through different brightness levels.
  2. Select the level that is most comfortable for your environment.

5.7. Aux-in Connection

Use the 3.5 mm audio cable to connect external audio devices.

  1. Connect one end of the 3.5 mm audio cable to the Aux-in port on the side of the Memorex MCB428B.
  2. Connect the other end to the headphone jack or audio output of your external device.
  3. Switch the unit to Aux-in mode.
  4. Control playback and volume from your external device.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

To clean the unit, gently wipe the surfaces with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents as they may damage the finish. Avoid spraying liquids directly onto the unit.

6.2. Battery Care

The unit contains a built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery. To prolong battery life:

  • Charge the unit fully before first use.
  • Avoid completely draining the battery frequently.
  • If storing the unit for an extended period, charge it to approximately 50% every few months.

7. Troubleshooting
