Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the guitar from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.
  2. Initial Inspection: Inspect the guitar for any visible damage that may have occurred during shipping. If any damage is found, contact your retailer immediately.
  3. Tuning: Use an electronic tuner to tune the guitar to standard pitch (E-A-D-G-B-e). The guitar is equipped with locking tuners for enhanced tuning stability. To use, insert the string through the post, pull taut, and tighten the locking screw on the back of the tuner. Then, turn the tuning peg to achieve the desired pitch.
  4. Strap Attachment: Securely attach a guitar strap to the strap buttons located on the body of the guitar.
  5. Amplifier Connection: Connect one end of a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable to the output jack on the guitar and the other end to the input of your guitar amplifier. Ensure the amplifier is turned off or at a low volume before connecting.

Operating

Controls Overview

  • Volume Knob: Controls the overall output level of the guitar. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
  • Tone Knob: Adjusts the treble frequencies. Turn clockwise for a brighter sound, counter-clockwise for a warmer, darker tone.
  • Pickup Selector Switch: This 3-way switch allows you to select different pickup configurations:
    • Position 1 (Neck): Activates the neck humbucking pickup for a warm, full tone.
    • Position 2 (Middle): Activates both neck and bridge humbucking pickups for a balanced tone.
    • Position 3 (Bridge): Activates the bridge humbucking pickup for a brighter, more aggressive tone.
  • Push/Pull Coil-Split: The tone knob features a push/pull function. Pulling the knob up splits the humbucking pickups into single-coil mode, offering a brighter, lower-output sound. Pushing it down returns them to humbucking mode.

Playing

Experiment with the various controls and pickup selections to discover the wide range of tonal possibilities your C-1 Blackjack offers. The "thin C" neck profile and stainless steel frets are designed for comfortable playability and smooth string bending.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the strings, fretboard, and body with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. For the black gloss finish, use a guitar-specific polish sparingly to maintain its luster. For the ebony fretboard, use a specialized fretboard conditioner periodically to prevent drying.
  • String Replacement: Strings should be replaced regularly, depending on usage, to maintain optimal tone and playability. When replacing strings, change them one at a time to maintain neck tension. Utilize the locking tuners for efficient string changes.
  • Fret Care: The stainless steel frets offer excellent durability. If fret wear becomes noticeable over extended periods, consult a qualified guitar technician for fret leveling or replacement.
  • Bridge Adjustment: The Tune-O-Matic bridge allows for individual string height and intonation adjustments. These adjustments should be performed by an experienced individual or a professional guitar technician to avoid damage and ensure proper setup.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the guitar in a suitable case or gig bag to protect it from dust, humidity changes, and physical damage. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
