Operating the Smart Plug

Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Ring Outdoor Smart Plug, consider the following maintenance tips:
- Regular Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the smart plug with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Ensure the device is unplugged before cleaning.
- Inspect Connections: Regularly check the power cord and the connections to the GFCI outlet for any signs of wear, damage, or loose fittings.
- Weather Protection: While the device is weather-resistant (IP66, IP64 in-use), ensure it remains plugged into a weatherproof GFCI outlet and that the outlets are facing downwards to minimize exposure to rain and moisture.
- Software Updates: Keep your Ring app updated to the latest version to benefit from new features, improvements, and security patches.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Ring Outdoor Smart Plug, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Device Not Responding:
- Ensure the smart plug is securely plugged into a working GFCI outlet.
- Verify that the Ring Bridge (or compatible hub) is powered on and connected to your home network.
- Check the Ring app for the device's status. If it shows offline, try restarting the Ring Bridge.
- Connectivity Issues / Limited Range:
- The Ring Outdoor Smart Plug requires a Ring Bridge for connectivity. Ensure the smart plug is within range of your Ring Bridge.
- Note that the Smart Plug currently does not support Ring's 2nd Gen Lighting Bridge or Amazon Sidewalk for range extension. If experiencing range issues, consider relocating the Ring Bridge closer to the smart plug, if feasible.
- A single Ring Bridge can support approximately 50 Ring Smart Lighting devices. Ensure you are not exceeding this limit.
- App Control Problems:
- Ensure your Ring app is updated to the latest version.
- Check your mobile device's internet connection.
- Log out and then back into the Ring app.
