2. Safety Information

Your HJC CS-R3 Mylo helmet is D.O.T. Approved, meeting the safety standards required for motorcycle helmets. Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding. Ensure the chin strap is securely fastened. Helmets are designed to absorb impact by partial destruction of the shell and liner. A helmet that has sustained an impact should be replaced, even if damage is not visible.

  • D.O.T. Approved: Meets or exceeds Department of Transportation safety standards.
  • Always ensure the helmet fits snugly and comfortably.
  • Never modify your helmet in any way, as this can compromise its protective capabilities.
  • Replace your helmet after any significant impact, regardless of visible damage.

3. Features Overview

The HJC CS-R3 Mylo helmet incorporates several key features for rider comfort and protection:

  • Advanced Polycarbonate Composite Shell: Lightweight construction providing superior fit and comfort through advanced CAD technology.
  • HJ-09 Anti-Scratch Faceshield: A hard-coated 3D shield design offering 95% U.V. protection and an anti-scratch coating.
  • RapidFire Shield Replacement System: Enables ultra-quick, tool-less removal and installation of the faceshield for efficient operation.
  • ACS Advanced Channeling Ventilation System: Features adjustable forehead and chin vents, along with two rear exhaust vents, to create a full front-to-back airflow, effectively flushing heat and humidity out of the helmet.
  • Plush, Nylex Interior: Fully removable and washable interior cheek pads and liner for hygiene and comfort. All sizes of cheek pads are interchangeable across all helmet sizes.
  • 2-Stage Shield Closure System: Includes a shield locking system for an extremely tight and secure seal against wind and water.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1. Faceshield Replacement (RapidFire System)

The RapidFire Shield Replacement System allows for quick and easy faceshield changes without tools.

  1. Open the faceshield to its fully raised position.
  2. Locate the release levers on both sides of the shield mechanism.
  3. Press the release lever while gently pulling the shield away from the helmet.
  4. To install a new shield, align the shield's pivot points with the helmet's mechanism and push until it clicks securely into place. Ensure both sides are properly engaged.

4.2. Interior Liner and Cheek Pad Installation/Removal

The Nylex interior is fully removable for cleaning or replacement.

  1. To remove cheek pads: Gently pull the cheek pads away from the helmet shell. They are typically secured with snaps or clips.
  2. To remove the headliner: Unsnap any fasteners holding the headliner in place and carefully pull it out.
  3. To install: Reverse the removal process, ensuring all snaps and clips are securely fastened.

5. Operating Your Helmet

5.1. Ventilation System (ACS)

The ACS Advanced Channeling Ventilation System allows you to control airflow for optimal comfort.

  • Forehead Vent: Slide the lever on the top of the helmet forward to open and backward to close, adjusting airflow to the top of your head.
  • Chin Vent: Slide the lever on the chin bar up to open and down to close, directing airflow to the faceshield and mouth area.
  • Rear exhaust vents are passive and work in conjunction with the front vents to draw warm, moist air out.

5.2. Faceshield Operation

The HJ-09 Faceshield features a 2-stage closure system for a secure seal.

  • To open: Lift the shield from the tab located at the bottom center.
  • To close: Push the shield down until it clicks into the first stage for a slight opening, or further down into the second stage for a full, secure seal.
  • The shield locking system ensures the shield remains closed during high speeds or impacts.

6. Maintenance and Care

6.1. Interior Cleaning

The removable Nylex interior can be hand-washed with mild soap and water. Allow to air dry completely before reinstallation. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

6.2. Faceshield Care

Clean the HJ-09 Anti-Scratch Faceshield with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the anti-scratch and UV coatings. Dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

6.3. Shell Cleaning

Clean the helmet's exterior shell with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals, which can damage the finish or shell material. Polish with a soft, dry cloth.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HJC CS-R3 Mylo helmet, consider the following:

  • Faceshield not sealing properly: Ensure the shield is correctly installed on both sides using the RapidFire system. Check for any debris obstructing the seal.
  • Excessive noise: Verify that the faceshield is fully closed and sealed. Check for any gaps around the shield or vents.
  • Discomfort or improper fit: Ensure the correct helmet size was chosen. The Nylex interior is removable and washable; ensure it is properly reinstalled. All cheek pad sizes are interchangeable, allowing for fine-tuning of fit.
