Setup
Battery Installation
The Berrcom JXB-178 thermometer requires 2 AA batteries for operation.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the handle of the thermometer.
- Gently slide or open the cover.
- Insert 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
Note: Batteries are typically included with the product. Ensure they are inserted correctly to avoid malfunction.

Operating Instructions
Taking a Body Temperature Reading
- Ensure the thermometer is in "Body" mode. Press the "MODE" button to cycle through modes (Body, Surface Temp, Room) until "Body" is displayed.
- Hold the thermometer 3cm-5cm (1.2in-2in) away from the center of the forehead.
- Press the measurement trigger (scan button) located on the handle.
- The temperature reading will appear on the digital display within 1 second.
- If the temperature exceeds 38℃ (100.4℉), the display backlight will turn RED, and an audible alarm will sound.
Switching Temperature Units (℃/℉)
To switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉):
- With the thermometer powered on, press and hold the "MODE" button for a few seconds until the unit changes.
- Release the button when your desired unit is displayed.
Memory Recall
The thermometer can store up to 32 previous temperature measurements.
- Press the "MEM" button to view the stored readings.
- Each press will cycle through the stored measurements.
Volume Control
