Setup

Battery Installation

The Berrcom JXB-178 thermometer requires 2 AA batteries for operation.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the handle of the thermometer.
  2. Gently slide or open the cover.
  3. Insert 2 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Batteries are typically included with the product. Ensure they are inserted correctly to avoid malfunction.

Operating Instructions

Taking a Body Temperature Reading

  1. Ensure the thermometer is in "Body" mode. Press the "MODE" button to cycle through modes (Body, Surface Temp, Room) until "Body" is displayed.
  2. Hold the thermometer 3cm-5cm (1.2in-2in) away from the center of the forehead.
  3. Press the measurement trigger (scan button) located on the handle.
  4. The temperature reading will appear on the digital display within 1 second.
  5. If the temperature exceeds 38℃ (100.4℉), the display backlight will turn RED, and an audible alarm will sound.

Switching Temperature Units (℃/℉)

To switch between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉):

  1. With the thermometer powered on, press and hold the "MODE" button for a few seconds until the unit changes.
  2. Release the button when your desired unit is displayed.

Memory Recall

The thermometer can store up to 32 previous temperature measurements.

  1. Press the "MEM" button to view the stored readings.
  2. Each press will cycle through the stored measurements.

Volume Control

To adjust the volume of the audible alerts:

  1. Press the speaker icon button (between MODE and MEM) to toggle the sound on or off.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Thermometer

  1. Use a soft cloth slightly dampened with alcohol (70% isopropyl) to wipe the surface of the thermometer.
  2. Pay special attention to the probe tip (infrared sensor).
  3. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or any other liquid.
  4. Allow the thermometer to air dry completely before storage or next use.

Storage

Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity.
