4.1 Front Panel Controls

5. Setup

5.1 Connecting Power

5.2 Initial Internet Connection

For optimal performance and access to all features, it is crucial to connect the device to the internet during the first use. This allows the radio to update to the latest software.

1. Upon first power-on, the radio will guide you through the initial setup wizard.
2. Select your preferred language.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your Wi-Fi network. You will need your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password.
4. Once connected, the radio will check for and install any available software updates. Do not disconnect power during this process.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

• Press the U / MODE button to turn the radio on or off (standby mode).

6.2 Mode Selection

• Press the U / MODE button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: Internet Radio, DAB+, FM, Bluetooth.

6.3 Tuning Stations

6.3.1 Internet Radio

1. Select Internet Radio mode.
2. Use the NAVIGATE knob to browse stations by location, genre, or search.
3. Press the NAVIGATE knob (OK/SCAN) to select a station.

6.3.2 DAB+ Radio

1. Select DAB+ mode.
2. The radio will automatically scan for available DAB+ stations.
3. Use the NAVIGATE knob or TUNING +/- buttons to select a station from the list.

6.3.3 FM Radio

1. Select FM mode.
2. Press and hold TUNING +/- for automatic station search, or press briefly for manual tuning.

6.4 Saving and Recalling Presets

The radio supports 40 FM and 40 DAB+ station presets.

6.4.1 Saving a Preset

1. Tune to the desired station.
2. Press and hold the PRESET button until the 'Save Preset' menu appears.
3. Use the NAVIGATE knob to select a preset number (1-40) and press to confirm.

6.4.2 Recalling a Preset

1. Press the PRESET button briefly.
2. Use the NAVIGATE knob to select the desired preset and press to confirm.

6.5 Volume Control

• Rotate the NAVIGATE knob clockwise to increase volume (VOL +) and counter-clockwise to decrease volume (VOL -).

7. Bluetooth Connectivity

You can stream audio from your smartphone or tablet PC via Bluetooth.

1. Select Bluetooth mode using the U / MODE button. The display will show 'Bluetooth Pairing'.
2. On your smartphone or tablet, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
3. Select 'Grundig GIR1080' (or similar) from the list of devices.
4. Once paired, you can play audio from your device through the radio.

8. Spotify Connect

With Spotify Connect, you can control the music played on your radio directly via the Spotify app on your smartphone or tablet.

1. Ensure your radio is connected to the internet and your smartphone/tablet is on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open the Spotify app on your device.
3. Play a song and tap the 'Devices Available' icon (usually a speaker or computer icon).

9. Alarm and Sleep Timer

9.1 Setting an Alarm
