2. Safety Information

WARNING: This product is a Class II laser product with an output of < 1mW. Avoid direct eye exposure to the laser beam. Do not stare into the beam. Do not aim the laser at people or animals. Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

  • Read all instructions carefully before operating the device.
  • Do not attempt to modify or disassemble the device.
  • Keep the device out of reach of children.
  • Avoid using the device in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, as this may affect accuracy.

3.2 Device Layout

  • Display Screen: Shows measurements, modes, and battery status.
  • ON/Measure Button: Powers on the device and initiates measurements.
  • OFF/Clear Button: Powers off the device and clears current measurements.
  • Units Button: Toggles between measurement units (M/In/Ft).
  • Function Button: Cycles through measurement modes (Area, Volume, Pythagoras, etc.).
  • Reference Point Button: Changes the measurement starting point (front, middle, rear).
  • Add/Subtract Buttons: Performs addition or subtraction of measurements.
  • Memory/Mute Button: Accesses stored measurements or mutes the device.
  • Built-in Bubble Level: Aids in horizontal and vertical alignment.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Battery

The PREXISO P80E-8L is equipped with a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery. Before first use, fully charge the device.

  1. Locate the USB-C charging port on the side of the device, protected by a rubber cover.
  2. Open the rubber cover.
  3. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the device and to a compatible USB power adapter (not included).
  4. The battery indicator on the display will show charging status. A full charge typically takes 2-3 hours and provides 3-5 hours of continuous operation.
  5. Once fully charged, disconnect the cable and close the rubber cover to maintain the device's waterproof and dustproof rating.

4.2 Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the ON/Measure button once. The laser will activate.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the OFF/Clear button for a few seconds. The device will also automatically shut down after 120 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery.

4.3 Changing Measurement Reference Points

The device can measure from three different reference points: the front, middle, or rear of the device. This is crucial for accurate measurements depending on your placement of the device.

  • Press the Reference Point button to cycle through the available options.
  • The display will show an icon indicating the currently selected reference point.

4.4 Changing Measurement Units

The device supports measurements in Meters (M), Inches (In), and Feet (Ft).

  • Press the Units button to cycle through the available measurement units.
  • The selected unit will be displayed on the screen.

5. Operating Modes

The PREXISO P80E-8L offers six different measurement modes to suit various needs.

5.1 Single Distance Measurement

  1. Point the laser at the target.
  2. Press the ON/Measure button once. The distance will be displayed instantly.

5.2 Continuous Measurement (Min/Max)

This mode allows you to track minimum and maximum distances as you move the device.

  1. Press the Function button until the continuous measurement icon appears.
  2. Press the ON/Measure button to start.
  3. Move the device slowly. The display will show the current, minimum, and maximum distances.
  4. Press the ON/Measure button again to stop.

5.3 Area Measurement

  1. Press the Function button until the area measurement icon appears.
  2. Measure the first side (e.g., length) by pressing ON/Measure.
  3. Measure the second side (e.g., width) by pressing ON/Measure.
  4. The device will automatically calculate and display the area.

5.4 Volume Measurement

  1. Press the Function button until the volume measurement icon appears.
  2. Measure the length, width, and height sequentially by pressing ON/Measure after each measurement.
  3. The device will calculate and display the volume.

5.5 Pythagoras Measurement (2-Point & 3-Point)

This mode allows indirect measurement of heights or distances using the Pythagorean theorem.

  1. Press the Function button until the desired Pythagoras icon appears (2-point or 3-point).
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts to take the required measurements (e.g., hypotenuse, base).
  3. The device will calculate and display the unknown height or distance.

5.6 Addition and Subtraction of Measurements

You can add or subtract measurements for cumulative calculations.

  • Take a measurement.
  • Press the + button to add the next measurement or the - button to subtract.
  • Take the next measurement. The result will be displayed.

5.7 Memory Function

The device can store up to 30 measurement records.

  • Press the Memory button to view stored records.
  • Use the Up/Down arrow buttons to navigate through the records.
  • To manually delete data, refer to the detailed instruction manual.

5.8 Mute Function

To use the device in quiet environments, you can mute the beep sound.

  • Press the Mute button (often combined with the Memory button) to toggle the sound on/off.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Clean the laser lens carefully with a soft, lint-free cloth, similar to cleaning camera lenses.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
  • If storing for extended periods, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge every few months to maintain battery health.

6.3 Durability

The PREXISO P80E-8L is designed to be shockproof, dustproof, and waterproof with an IP54 rating, making it suitable for various working conditions. However, avoid intentional drops or submersion in water.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device not powering on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB power source and try again.
  • Inaccurate measurements: Check the selected reference point. Ensure the laser is aimed at a flat, non-reflective surface. Avoid measuring in direct sunlight.
  • Laser not visible: The laser may be difficult to see in bright light conditions. This is normal for Class II lasers.
  • Device unresponsive: Try powering off and on again. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
