2. Safety Instructions
Always prioritize safety when operating power tools. Read and understand all instructions before use. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings:
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection, hearing protection, and a dust mask. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Secure long hair.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Laser Safety: The Hecht 828 Miter Saw is equipped with a laser. Do not stare directly into the laser beam. Avoid directing the laser beam at other people or reflective surfaces.

4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking and Placement
Remove the saw from its packaging. Place the saw on a stable, level workbench. Ensure adequate space around the saw for material handling and safe operation.
4.2 Attaching the Dust Collection Bag
Locate the dust collection port at the rear of the saw. Attach the provided dust collection bag securely to this port. For improved dust extraction, you can connect a workshop vacuum cleaner to this port instead of the bag.

Figure 4.1: The practical dust collection bag helps keep your workspace clean. Alternatively, a vacuum cleaner can be connected.
4.3 Installing the Material Clamp
Insert the material clamp into the designated slot on the saw's base. The clamp is essential for securely holding the workpiece during cutting, preventing movement and ensuring safety and precision.

Figure 4.2: For safety, the material clamp secures the workpiece firmly in place.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power Connection
Connect the saw to a suitable power outlet. Ensure the power supply matches the specifications of the tool (1800 W).
5.2 Adjusting Cutting Angles
The Hecht 828 allows for precise miter cuts from -45° to +45°. To adjust the angle, loosen the locking knob, set the turntable to the desired angle using the scale, and then tighten the knob securely.

Figure 5.1: Achieve precise miter cuts from -45° to +45° with ease.
5.3 Using the Laser Guide
Activate the laser guide to project a precise cutting line onto your workpiece. This feature allows for millimeter-accurate cuts. Always verify the laser line with a test cut on scrap material if precision is critical.

Figure 5.2: The laser accurately indicates the cutting line for enhanced precision.
5.4 Depth Adjustment
The saw features a cutting depth limit. Adjust this setting according to the thickness of your material to prevent over-cutting and ensure safety.
5.5 Making a Cut
- Place the workpiece firmly against the fence and secure it with the material clamp.
- Adjust the desired cutting angle and depth.
- Activate the laser guide if desired.
- Hold the saw handle firmly and press the trigger to start the motor. Allow the blade to reach full speed before engaging the material.
- Slowly lower the saw blade into the workpiece, applying steady pressure. For pull-out cuts, pull the saw head towards you, lower the blade, and push it through the material.
- Once the cut is complete, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before raising the saw head.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Regularly empty the dust collection bag. Clean the saw's exterior with a damp cloth. Ensure all ventilation openings are free from dust and debris. Never use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
6.2 Blade Replacement
Always disconnect the saw from the power supply before changing the blade. Use only 210 mm carbide blades suitable for the materials you intend to cut. Follow the instructions in the manual for safe blade removal and installation.
6.3 General Inspection
Periodically check all screws and fasteners for tightness. Inspect the power cord for any damage. If any part is damaged, have it repaired by a qualified service technician.
7. Troubleshooting
- Saw not starting: Check power connection, ensure safety switch is disengaged.
- Inaccurate cuts: Verify material clamp is secure, check blade for damage, ensure angle settings are locked, and laser alignment is correct.
- Excessive dust: Ensure dust bag is properly attached and empty, or vacuum cleaner is connected and functioning.
- Motor overheating: Reduce cutting pressure, allow the motor to cool, ensure ventilation openings are clear.
