4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Visor Replacement

The outer face shield is designed for easy removal and replacement. To remove, lift the visor to its highest position, then locate the release mechanism on each side (often a button or lever). Press the release and gently pull the visor forward to detach. To install, align the visor with the pivot points and push until it clicks securely into place.

4.2 Pinlock Installation

The Pinlock 30 insert is installed on the inside of the clear outer visor. Carefully bend the visor slightly to flatten it, then align the Pinlock pins with the holes on the visor. Press the Pinlock insert onto the pins, ensuring a tight seal around the edges. Release the visor to allow it to return to its curved shape, securing the Pinlock in place.

4.3 Heated Visor (Optional Accessory)

A heated visor is available as an optional accessory (search B08JG8L3P8). This visor connects to your vehicle's power source to prevent fogging and icing in extreme cold. Follow the heated visor's specific installation instructions.

4.4 Communication System & Eyewear

The helmet includes dedicated speaker pockets and an eyewear-friendly design. To install communication system speakers, gently peel back the inner liner to expose the speaker pockets and place your speakers inside. For eyeglasses, the helmet's design allows the temples of your glasses to slide comfortably into designated channels, reducing pressure points.

5. Operation

5.1 Using the Dual Visor

The clear outer visor can be opened and closed manually. The inner tinted visor is operated by a small lever located on the left side of the helmet. Push the lever forward to deploy the tinted visor and pull it back to retract it.

5.2 Adjusting Vents

The front, top, and rear vents are adjustable. Slide the small tabs on each vent to open or close them, allowing you to control the airflow and internal temperature of the helmet.

6. Maintenance

The helmet's liners are removable and washable. Gently detach the liners from the helmet interior. Hand wash them with mild soap and water, then air dry completely before reinserting them into the helmet. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.

6.2 Visor Care

Clean visors with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the visor's coating. For the Pinlock insert, clean it gently with a soft, damp cloth and avoid rubbing the inner surface to preserve its anti-fog properties.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Helmet feels too tight/small: The helmet size may run small. Consider ordering one size up from your measured head circumference. If you have already purchased, contact ILM customer service for potential replacement pads to adjust the fit.
  • Visor detaches unexpectedly: Ensure the visor is correctly aligned and securely clicked into both pivot points during installation. Check for any debris or damage to the release mechanism.
  • Visor fogging: Ensure the Pinlock 30 insert is correctly installed and sealed against the outer visor. If fogging persists, verify the Pinlock is clean and undamaged.
  • Heated visor not working (optional): Check the power connection to your vehicle and ensure the heated visor is properly connected and free from damage.
