6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning the Thermometer
To ensure accurate readings and hygiene, clean the thermometer after each use:
- Wipe the probe and the body of the thermometer with a soft cloth moistened with 70% isopropyl alcohol or an alcohol swab.
- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners, or benzene for cleaning.
- Ensure no liquid enters the interior of the device.
- Allow the thermometer to air dry completely before storing.
6.2. Storage
Store the thermometer in a clean, dry place, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and humidity. Keep the sensor protection cover on when not in use.
6.3. Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace both AAA batteries with new ones. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display after pressing START. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly inserted. | Check battery polarity or replace batteries. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Incorrect measurement distance; dirty sensor; environmental factors (drafts, direct sunlight). | Ensure correct distance (approx. 2 inches); clean the sensor; measure in a stable environment. Allow the thermometer to acclimatize to room temperature for 30 minutes if moved from a different environment. |
| "Lo" or "Hi" displayed. | Temperature is outside the measurable range. | Ensure the thermometer is used within its specified operating temperature range. |
| Display shows an error message (e.g., "ERR"). | Device malfunction or internal error. | Remove batteries, wait 1 minute, then reinsert. If the error persists, contact customer support. |
