4.2. Descaling
Descaling is essential to maintain the performance and longevity of your coffee machine. The machine will indicate when descaling is needed (refer to Troubleshooting section for indicator light details).
- Prepare Descaling Solution: Follow the instructions on your descaling solution product. Typically, this involves mixing the solution with water in the water tank.
- Run Descaling Cycle: Refer to the full instruction manual for the specific descaling procedure for your LB 400 model. This usually involves running the solution through the machine multiple times, followed by several rinse cycles with fresh water.
5. Troubleshooting
The control panel features indicator lights to help identify common issues:
- Empty Water Tank Indicator: If the water tank is empty or below the minimum level, a specific indicator light (often a water drop icon) will illuminate. Refill the water tank to resolve this.
- Used Capsule Container Full Indicator: When the used capsule container is full, an indicator light (often a capsule icon) will turn on. Empty and clean the container as described in the Maintenance section.
- Descaling Needed Indicator: A specific indicator light (often with small dots or a scale icon) will illuminate when the machine requires descaling. Perform the descaling procedure as outlined in the Maintenance section.
- Coffee Extraction Issues: If espresso extraction is inadequate (too slow or too fast), check the following:
- Ensure you are using Lavazza Expert Capsules.
- The amount of espresso extracted can vary. Reprogramming the beverage selection might be necessary if you desire a different volume.
