3. Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials. Inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
- Placement: Place the coffee maker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from walls and flammable materials. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, clean all removable parts (lid, filter basket) with warm, soapy water. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Rinse thoroughly.
- First Brew Cycle (without coffee): Fill the water reservoir with cold water up to the MAX line. Place the empty filter basket inside. Close the lid. Plug the appliance into a grounded outlet. Turn on the power switch. Allow a full cycle of water to run through the machine. Discard this water. This cleans the internal components and removes any manufacturing residues.
4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to brew coffee with your Saro 317-1000 Saromica Coffee Maker:
- Fill Water Reservoir: Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water. Use the water level indicator as a guide. Do not exceed the MAX fill line.
- Add Coffee Grounds: Place the filter basket into its position. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter basket. For optimal results, use medium-coarse ground coffee. Do not overfill the filter basket.
- Close Lid: Securely close the lid. Ensure it is properly seated to prevent steam from escaping.
- Start Brewing: Plug the coffee maker into a grounded electrical outlet. Turn on the power switch. The indicator light will illuminate, signaling that the brewing process has begun.
- Brewing Process: Water will heat up and drip through the coffee grounds into the main reservoir. The brewing process will complete automatically.
- Serving: Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will switch to a keep-warm function. Place a cup under the spout and press the tap lever to dispense coffee.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning:
- Unplug: Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Empty and Rinse: Discard used coffee grounds. Remove the filter basket and lid, then rinse them thoroughly under warm running water.
- Clean Interior: Wipe the interior of the water reservoir with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Dry thoroughly.
Descaling (Monthly or as needed):
Mineral deposits from water can affect performance. Descale regularly, especially in areas with hard water.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions (e.g., white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaling agent).
- Pour the solution into the water reservoir.
- Run a brewing cycle without coffee grounds.
- After the cycle, discard the solution.
- Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining descaling solution.
