3. Installation
3.1 Safety Precautions
- Ensure power is disconnected before installation to prevent electric shock.
- Verify the primary circuit voltage does not exceed the transformer's rated working voltage (720V).
- For current output type transformers, ensure the secondary circuit is always connected to a load and never open-circuited during operation.
- For voltage output type transformers, ensure the secondary circuit is not short-circuited.
3.2 Installation Steps
The SCT016T current transformer is designed for easy, non-destructive installation on a primary conductor (firing line).
- Open the Buckle: Gently press the safety lock buckle to release it.
- Open Upward: Open the transformer core upward to create an opening.
- Put in Lead Wire: Carefully place the primary conductor (the wire carrying the current to be measured) through the aperture of the transformer. The opening size is 16mm.
- Fasten the Buckle: Close the transformer core and ensure the safety lock buckle is securely fastened.

Note: The specific wiring configuration depends on whether your SCT016T model provides a voltage output or a current output. Refer to the diagrams above for correct connection.
4. Operation
Once correctly installed and wired, the SCT016T current transformer will provide an output signal proportional to the primary current flowing through the conductor. Connect the output terminals to a suitable measurement device (e.g., a multimeter, data logger, or energy meter) that is compatible with the transformer's output type (voltage or current) and range.
- Ensure the measurement device is properly calibrated and configured for the expected input signal.
- Monitor the output for accurate current readings.
- The transformer operates within a frequency range of 50Hz to 1KHz.
5. Maintenance
The YHDC SCT016T current transformer is designed for long-term, maintenance-free operation. However, periodic checks are recommended:
- Visually inspect the transformer and its connections for any signs of damage, wear, or loose wiring.
- Ensure the safety lock buckle remains securely fastened.
- Keep the device clean and free from dust and moisture.
- Do not attempt to open or repair the transformer yourself. Refer to qualified personnel for any issues.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with the SCT016T current transformer, consider the following:
- No Output/Incorrect Reading:
- Check all wiring connections for proper contact and polarity.
- Ensure the primary conductor is correctly threaded through the transformer aperture.
- Verify the measurement device is correctly configured for the transformer's output type (voltage or current) and range.
- For current output models, ensure the secondary circuit is not open. For voltage output models, ensure it is not short-circuited.
- Confirm the primary current is within the rated input range of the transformer.
- Intermittent Readings:
- Inspect for loose connections or damaged cables.
- Check for electromagnetic interference from nearby equipment.
- If problems persist, contact customer support for assistance.
