1. Introduction

2. Important Safety Instructions

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, observe the following:

  • Read all instructions before using this heater.
  • This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces.
  • Always use caution when children or invalids are present.
  • Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug, or after the heater malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner.
  • Do not use outdoors if not specifically designed for outdoor use. This heater is IP65 rated for weather and dust resistance, making it suitable for outdoor use.
  • Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner.
  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • This heater includes a tip-over safety switch that automatically shuts off the unit if it is accidentally tipped over.
  • This heater includes an overheat protection feature that automatically shuts off the unit if it overheats.

3. Assembly Instructions

The R.W.FLAME Patio Heater requires partial assembly. Please follow these steps carefully. An electric drill or Phillips-head screwdriver may be used for tightening bolts.

Phase One: Install the Base

  1. Release the six bolts from the base plate.
  2. Align the thread holes on the base with the thread holes on the base tube.
  3. Use the six bolts to fasten the base and base tube together securely.
  4. Place the decorative base cover over the base tube.

Phase Two: Install the Tubes

  1. Turn the first middle tube clockwise to fix it onto the base tube.
  2. Turn the second middle tube clockwise to fix it onto the first middle tube. (Note: The first and second middle tubes can be interchanged).

Phase Three: Install the Heating Element

  1. Insert the heating element into the top tube.
  2. Align the thread holes on the heating element with the thread holes on the top tube.
  3. Use the two provided bolts to fix the heating element securely to the top tube.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Placement: Position the heater on a stable, level surface. Ensure it is at a safe distance from flammable materials (at least 3 feet from walls, furniture, curtains, etc.).
  2. Power Connection: Plug the heater into a standard AC120V, 60Hz electrical outlet. Ensure the outlet is properly grounded.
  3. Power On: Locate the line switch control (often a pull-cord or rocker switch) on the unit. Turn the switch to the "ON" position. The heating element will begin to glow and produce heat within approximately 3 seconds.
  4. Adjust Heating Angle: The heating head can be adjusted by up to 45 degrees. Gently tilt the heating element to direct heat to your desired area.
  5. Power Off: To turn off the heater, switch the line control to the "OFF" position. Unplug the unit from the power outlet when not in use or before cleaning/maintenance.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your heater.

  • Cleaning: Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Heating Element: Do not attempt to clean the heating element directly. Dust can be gently removed with a soft brush or compressed air when the unit is unplugged and cool.
  • Storage: When not in use, especially during off-season, store the heater in a cool, dry place. Cover it to protect from dust and moisture.
  • Cord Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and plug for any signs of damage. If damaged, do not use the heater and contact customer support.

6. Troubleshooting

If your heater is not functioning correctly, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
