4. Controls and Functions

  • Power/Volume Knob: Rotate clockwise to power on and increase volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease volume and power off.
  • Channel Selector Buttons: Use the up/down buttons on the side to cycle through the available channels. The radio provides voice prompts for channel numbers.
  • Push-To-Talk (PTT) Button: Press and hold to transmit your voice. Release to listen.
  • Side Button 2 (Flashlight): Long press this button to turn the integrated flashlight on or off.
  • USB-C Port: Located on the side, used for charging the radio.
  • Earpiece/Accessory Jack: Standard K-Head 2-Pin jack for connecting earpieces or other audio accessories.

5. Setup

5.1 Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the radio's battery. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the radio's USB-C port and a compatible USB power adapter. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

5.2 Attaching the Belt Clip

Align the belt clip with the screw holes on the back of the radio and secure it with the provided screws.

5.3 Attaching the Earpiece

Insert the K-Head 2-Pin earpiece connector into the accessory jack on the side of the radio. Ensure it is firmly seated.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment

Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click to turn the radio on. Continue rotating clockwise to increase the volume. Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume and turn the radio off.

6.2 Channel Selection

Use the up/down channel selector buttons on the side of the radio to choose your desired channel. The radio will announce the channel number.

6.3 Transmitting and Receiving

To transmit, press and hold the PTT button. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to stop transmitting and listen for a response.

6.4 VOX Function (Hands-Free Operation)

The RB26 supports VOX (Voice Operated Exchange) for hands-free communication when using a compatible earpiece. Refer to the full user manual for detailed activation and sensitivity settings.

6.5 Flashlight Operation

Long press Side Button 2 to activate the integrated flashlight. Long press again to turn it off.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Care

To maximize battery life, fully charge the battery before each use and avoid completely draining it. Store the radio and battery in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.

7.2 Cleaning

Wipe the radio's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Ensure the USB-C port and accessory jack are free of dust and debris.

7.3 Durability

The RB26 is designed to be rugged and has been drop-tested from 2 meters. However, excessive force or repeated drops may cause damage.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Radio does not power on: Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly installed. Rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until it clicks.
  • Cannot transmit or receive: Verify that both radios are on the same channel. Check if the PTT button is being pressed correctly. Ensure you are within the effective communication range.
  • Poor audio quality or static: Adjust the squelch level (if programmable via software). Ensure there are no major obstructions between radios. Move to a higher location if possible.
  • Limited range: Obstacles like buildings, hills, and dense foliage can reduce range. For extended range, utilize GMRS repeaters if available in your area.
