2. Initial Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the coffee maker for any damage.
  2. Cleaning: Before first use, wash the glass carafe, lid, and reusable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
  3. First Brew Cycle (Cleaning Cycle): To clean the internal components, fill the water reservoir with clean water to the 10-cup mark. Do not add coffee grounds. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brew cycle. Discard the water after the cycle is complete. Repeat this process once more with fresh water.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Setting the Clock

  1. Plug in the coffee maker. The display will show '12:00 AM' or flash.
  2. Press the 'HOUR' button to set the hour. Press and hold to advance quickly.
  3. Press the 'MIN' button to set the minutes. Press and hold to advance quickly.
  4. Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct. The clock is now set.

3.2 Brewing Coffee

  1. Prepare: Ensure the coffee maker is plugged in and the clock is set.
  2. Add Water: Fill the glass carafe with the desired amount of fresh, cold water (up to 10 cups). Pour the water into the water reservoir.
  3. Add Coffee Grounds: Place the reusable filter basket into its holder. Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter. For best results, use 1 tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup.
  4. Place Carafe: Ensure the glass carafe is correctly placed on the warming plate.
  5. Start Brewing: Press the 'ON/OFF' button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
  6. Keep Warm: After brewing, the warming plate will keep the coffee warm for 2 hours before automatically shutting off.

3.3 Brew Strength Control

The coffee maker offers multiple brew strength options to suit your preference:

  • 1-4 Cups: For smaller batches, ensuring full flavor extraction.
  • Regular: Standard brew strength.
  • Bold: For a stronger, richer coffee.

To select a brew strength, press the 'MODE' button repeatedly until the desired strength indicator is displayed on the screen before starting the brew cycle.

3.4 Delay Brew (Programmable Timer)

To program the coffee maker to start brewing at a later time:

  1. Prepare Coffee Maker: Follow steps 2-4 of '3.2 Brewing Coffee'.
  2. Set Delay Time: Press the 'PROG' button. The display will show 'TIMER' and '12:00 AM' or flash. Use the 'HOUR' and 'MIN' buttons to set the desired brew start time. Ensure the AM/PM indicator is correct.
  3. Activate Delay Brew: Press the 'PROG' button again to confirm the delay time. The 'PROG' indicator light will illuminate. The coffee maker will now start brewing automatically at the set time.

3.5 Brew and Pause Function

The coffee maker features a 30-second anti-drip function. You can temporarily remove the carafe during the brewing cycle to pour a cup of coffee. The brewing will pause and resume once the carafe is returned to the warming plate within 30 seconds. If the carafe is not returned within 30 seconds, the brewing will overflow.

4. Care and Maintenance

4.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Carafe and Filter Basket: After each use, remove the carafe and filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds. Wash both components in warm, soapy water or place them on the top rack of your dishwasher. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  • Warming Plate: Wipe the warming plate with a clean, damp cloth. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water.

4.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts water.
  2. Place an empty carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Press the 'ON/OFF' button to start a brew cycle. Allow half of the mixture to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Turn the coffee maker back on to complete the brewing cycle.
  5. Discard the vinegar solution. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh, clean water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
