4. Setup
4.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the iron from its packaging. Retain the packaging for storage or future transport. Check for any visible damage. If any damage is found, do not use the iron and contact customer support.
4.2 Filling the Water Tank
Before filling, ensure the iron is unplugged from the power outlet. Open the water filling inlet and slowly pour clean tap water into the tank up to the 'MAX' level indicator. Do not overfill. For optimal performance and to prolong the life of your iron, it is recommended to use demineralized or distilled water, especially in areas with hard water.

4.3 First Use
During the first use, a slight odor or small amount of smoke may be emitted. This is normal and will disappear after a short period. It is advisable to iron an old piece of fabric first to ensure no residue is transferred to your garments.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Temperature Settings
Plug the iron into a suitable power outlet. Adjust the temperature dial according to the fabric type you are ironing. Refer to the garment's care label for recommended ironing temperatures. The iron's indicator light will illuminate while heating and turn off when the selected temperature is reached.
5.2 Steam Functions
For steam ironing, ensure the water tank is filled and the temperature setting is within the steam zone (usually indicated on the dial). The iron will produce continuous steam. For stubborn creases, press the steam boost button to release an extra burst of steam.

5.3 Vertical Steaming
The iron can be used for vertical steaming of hanging garments, curtains, or drapes. Hold the iron vertically a few centimeters away from the fabric and press the steam boost button repeatedly. Ensure the fabric is suitable for steaming and will not be damaged by direct steam contact.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Anti-Calc System (Removable Calc Collector)
The unique removable calc collector helps prevent limescale buildup, ensuring long-lasting steam performance. To clean the collector:
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and completely cool.
- Locate the calc collector, usually at the rear of the iron.
- Twist or pull the collector to remove it (refer to specific diagrams in the full product manual if available).
- Rinse the collector under running water to remove any collected limescale.
- Reinsert the clean collector firmly back into the iron until it clicks into place.

6.2 Cleaning the Soleplate
To maintain the glide performance of the Durilium Airglide soleplate:
- Ensure the iron is unplugged and completely cool.
- Wipe the soleplate with a damp cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner if necessary.
- Do not use abrasive pads, scouring powders, or harsh chemicals as these can damage the soleplate coating.

6.3 Storage
After use, unplug the iron and allow it to cool down completely. Empty any remaining water from the tank. Store the iron in an upright position to prevent water leakage and protect the soleplate.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Iron does not heat up. | Not plugged in; power outlet faulty; temperature dial set to minimum. | Check plug connection; test outlet with another appliance; turn temperature dial to desired setting. |
| No steam or insufficient steam. | Water tank empty; temperature too low for steam; calc buildup. | Fill water tank; set temperature to steam zone; clean calc collector. |
| Water leaking from soleplate. | Temperature too low for steam; water tank overfilled; iron not hot enough for steam. | Increase temperature; do not overfill; wait for iron to reach set temperature before using steam. |
| White flakes on clothes. | Limescale buildup. | Clean the calc collector and soleplate thoroughly. Use demineralized water. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact Tefal customer support.
