1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the assembly, operation, and maintenance of your PULUZ Smartphone Vlogging Kit. This kit is designed to enhance your smartphone video recording experience, offering stability, improved audio, and versatile lighting options. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product.

2. Package Contents

Verify that all components are present in your package:

  • Smartphone Video Rig Frame
  • Mini Tripod
  • Microphone
  • 4.7-inch LED Ring Light with USB cable and controller
  • Microphone connection cables (3.5mm TRRS for smartphones, 3.5mm TRS for cameras)

3. Setup Instructions

  1. Attach the Mini Tripod: Screw the mini tripod into the 1/4-inch screw hole at the bottom center of the video rig frame. Ensure it is securely tightened.
  2. Insert Your Smartphone:

    Extend the retractable mobile phone clip on the rig frame. Carefully place your smartphone into the clip, ensuring it is centered and stable. Tighten the screw on the back of the clip to secure the phone firmly. The clip is compatible with smartphones 1.7" to 4.3" wide.
  3. Mount the Ring Light: The ring light can be mounted on one of the three cold shoe ports located on the top of the rig frame. Slide the ring light's base into a cold shoe slot and tighten the locking mechanism.
  4. Mount the Microphone: Slide the microphone's base into another available cold shoe slot on the top of the rig frame and tighten it.

  5. Connect the Microphone:

    Use the appropriate 3.5mm audio cable to connect the microphone to your smartphone's audio input jack.
    • For smartphones with a 3.5mm audio jack, use the TRRS cable (4 interfaces).
    • For iPhone 7 and above, an audio adapter cable (not included) is required for interface conversion.
    • For DSLR or DV camcorders, use the TRS cable (3 interfaces).
  6. Power the Ring Light: Connect the USB cable of the ring light to a power source.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Using the Video Rig

The video rig provides a stable platform for your smartphone, whether used handheld or with the mini tripod.

  • Handheld Use: Grip the sides of the rig frame for stable handheld recording. The lightweight design helps reduce fatigue during extended use.

  • Tripod Use: With the mini tripod attached, you can place the kit on a flat surface for stationary recording.
  • Orientation: The rig supports both horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) shooting by utilizing the 1/4-inch screw holes on the sides and bottom.

4.2. Using the LED Ring Light

The ring light offers various lighting modes and brightness levels controlled by the inline remote.

  1. Power On/Off: Press the ON/OFF button to turn the light on or off.
  2. White Light Brightness Adjustment:
    • Press the Colour 1 button to cycle through 3 modes of white light brightness (e.g., 100%, 50%, 100%).
    • Use the Up and Down buttons to fine-tune the brightness across 10 levels for both white and color lights.
  3. RGBW Color Modes:
    • Press the Colour 2 button to activate RGBW mode, providing seven color conversions.
    • This mode offers color filter effects in addition to soft natural light colors.
  4. Auto Adjusting Mode: Press the AUTO button for automatic brightness adjustment.

4.3. Using the Microphone

The microphone is designed to capture clear, stereo sound.

  • Ensure the microphone is securely connected to your recording device using the correct 3.5mm cable.
  • Position the microphone appropriately to capture desired audio. The MS stereo system provides a natural sound pickup.

5. Maintenance

  • Keep the kit clean by wiping components with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Avoid exposing the electronic components (ring light, microphone) to moisture or extreme temperatures.
  • Store the kit in a dry, safe place when not in use to prevent damage.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners on any part of the kit.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Microphone Not Working:
    • Ensure the microphone cable is fully inserted into both the microphone and your smartphone's 3.5mm audio jack.
    • Verify you are using the correct cable for your device (TRRS for smartphones, TRS for cameras).
    • For iPhone 7 and newer models, an external audio adapter (Lightning to 3.5mm or USB-C to 3.5mm) is required and not included with this kit.
    • Check your phone's audio input settings to ensure the external microphone is selected.
  • Ring Light Not Turning On:
    • Confirm the USB cable is securely connected to a working power source.
    • Try a different USB port or power adapter.
    • Ensure the ON/OFF button on the inline controller has been pressed.
  • Smartphone Not Stable in Portrait Mode:
    • While the rig supports vertical shooting, ensure the phone is securely tightened in the clip and the tripod is placed on a flat, stable surface.
    • Adjust the tripod legs for maximum stability.
