4. Installation Guide

Proper installation of the sealing ring is crucial for the safe and effective operation of your pressure cooker. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Step 1: Identify the Spout. Locate the spout on the lid of your pressure cooker. This is your starting point for installation.
  2. Step 2: Tuck the Edge. Begin by tucking one edge of the silicone sealing ring snugly around the wire sealing ring rack on the underside of the pressure cooker lid.
  3. Step 3: Press into Place. Continue around the entire circumference of the lid. Use your thumb to gently press down on the silicone ring, helping it to set firmly into place within the groove.
  4. Step 4: Verify Fit. Once installed, the sealing ring should fit strongly and snugly. You should not be able to easily pop it out. The two lines on the rim of the sealing ring are designed to fit into the groove of the wire rack.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: The silicone sealing rings are dishwasher safe. For best results, clean them regularly to prevent food residue buildup and odor retention.
  • Replacement Recommendation: It is recommended to replace your pressure cooker's silicone sealing ring every 12-18 months. Sealing rings are crucial for the pressure cooker's function and can wear out over time, affecting the seal and safety.
  • Storage: Store unused sealing rings in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Cooker Not Pressurizing: If your pressure cooker is not building pressure, ensure the sealing ring is correctly installed and seated firmly in its groove. Check for any twists, tears, or damage to the ring. A worn or improperly installed ring is a common cause of pressure loss.
  • Odor Retention: If the sealing ring retains odors from previous meals, ensure it is thoroughly cleaned after each use. Dishwashing can help eliminate stubborn odors. Regular replacement as per recommendation also helps.
  • Ring Appears Too Large/Small: Verify that you have the correct size sealing ring for your 6-quart Crock-Pot pressure cooker model (SCCPPC600-V1 & SCCPPC600-V2). While the ring might appear slightly larger or smaller when not installed, it should fit snugly once properly seated in the lid's wire rack.
