4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the amplifier from its packaging. Retain all packing materials for future transport or storage. Inspect the unit for any signs of damage. If damage is found, contact your dealer immediately.
4.2 Placement
Place the amplifier on a stable, flat surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation grilles on the top, sides, or rear of the amplifier. Avoid placing the amplifier near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
4.3 Connecting Speakers
The C100 amplifier supports various speaker configurations. Identify the impedance or voltage requirements of your speakers and connect them to the appropriate terminals on the rear panel.
- Determine Speaker Type: Identify if your speakers are low-impedance (4-ohm, 8-ohm) or constant voltage (25V, 70V).
- Wire Preparation: Strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation from the speaker wires.
- Connection:
- For 4-ohm speakers, connect to the "4 OHM" and "COM" terminals.
- For 8-ohm speakers, connect to the "8 OHM" and "COM" terminals.
- For 25V constant voltage speakers, connect to the "25V" and "COM" terminals.
- For 70V constant voltage speakers, connect to the "70V" and "COM" terminals.
- Ensure all connections are secure and that there are no stray wire strands that could cause a short circuit.
4.4 Connecting Audio Sources
Connect your audio sources to the appropriate input jacks on the rear panel.
- Microphones: Connect dynamic microphones to the MIC 1 or MIC 2 inputs.
- Auxiliary Devices: Connect line-level sources such as CD players, tuners, or media players to the AUX 1 or AUX 2 RCA inputs.
- Telephone Paging: Connect your telephone system's paging output to the dedicated telephone input.
4.5 Power Connection
Once all audio and speaker connections are made, plug the amplifier's power cord into a standard AC outlet (120V AC, 60Hz).
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Powering On/Off
Press the red POWER switch on the front panel to turn the amplifier ON. The switch will illuminate when the unit is powered. Press it again to turn the amplifier OFF.
5.2 Adjusting Input Levels
Use the individual rotary level controls (MIC 1, MIC 2, AUX 1, AUX 2) on the front panel to adjust the volume of each connected audio source. Start with the controls at a low setting and gradually increase them to achieve the desired balance.
5.3 Tone Controls
- TREBLE: Rotate the TREBLE knob to adjust the high-frequency response of the audio. Turn clockwise to boost treble, counter-clockwise to cut.
- BASS: Rotate the BASS knob to adjust the low-frequency response of the audio. Turn clockwise to boost bass, counter-clockwise to cut.
Adjust these controls to suit your listening preference and the acoustics of the environment.
5.4 Microphone Precedence
The C100 amplifier features a microphone precedence circuit. When a signal is detected on the designated microphone input (typically MIC 1), it will automatically attenuate other audio sources, allowing the microphone signal to be heard clearly. This is particularly useful for paging or announcements.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
To clean the amplifier, disconnect it from the power outlet. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or solvents, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
6.2 Ventilation
Regularly check that the ventilation grilles are free from dust and obstructions. Proper airflow is crucial for preventing overheating and ensuring the longevity of the amplifier.
6.3 Fuse Reset
If the amplifier unexpectedly loses power, check the red fuse reset button on the rear panel (Figure 3.4). If it has popped out, press it firmly to reset the internal fuse. If the fuse repeatedly trips, disconnect the amplifier and consult qualified service personnel.
