2. Safety Instructions
Always observe the following basic safety precautions when using power tools to reduce the risk of electric shock, fire, and serious injury.
- Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
- Electrical Safety: Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Personal Safety: Always wear eye protection. Use hearing protection when operating for extended periods. Dress properly; avoid loose clothing or jewelry. Secure long hair.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or remove the battery pack before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
- Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs.

5. Operating the Drill

A clear view of the Bosch EasyDrill 1200 cordless drill, showcasing its compact design and ergonomic grip.
5.1. Powering On/Off
The drill is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed of rotation is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed. Release the trigger to turn the drill off.
5.2. Speed Selection
The EasyDrill 1200 features a two-speed gearbox for optimal performance across different tasks.
- Speed 1 (Low Speed): Use for screwdriving applications or when drilling large diameter holes, requiring higher torque.
- Speed 2 (High Speed): Use for drilling smaller diameter holes or when faster drilling is required.
To change the speed, use the red slide switch located on top of the drill. Ensure the drill has come to a complete stop before changing speeds.

This image highlights the drill's control features, including the red two-speed selector switch (labeled 1 and 2) and the black torque adjustment ring with numbered settings.
5.3. Torque Settings
The torque pre-selection ring allows you to set the desired torque for screwdriving or select the drilling mode.
- Screwdriving (Settings 1-20): Rotate the ring to select a torque setting. Lower numbers are for smaller screws or softer materials, while higher numbers are for larger screws or harder materials. The clutch will disengage once the set torque is reached, preventing overtightening or damage to the screw head.
- Drilling (Drill Symbol): For drilling operations, set the ring to the drill symbol. This bypasses the clutch, providing maximum torque for drilling.
5.4. Drilling and Screwdriving Applications
The EasyDrill 1200 is suitable for various materials:
- Wood: Use appropriate wood drill bits. For screwdriving, select a suitable torque setting.
- Metal: Use HSS drill bits for metal. Apply light pressure and use a cutting fluid if necessary.
- Plastic: Use wood or metal drill bits depending on the type of plastic.

The drill is shown in use, driving a screw into a wooden plank. This illustrates the drill's capability for screwdriving tasks, typically performed in the lower speed setting with appropriate torque.

Here, the drill is being used to create a hole in a metal sheet. This demonstrates the drill's drilling function, often used with higher speeds and the drill setting on the torque collar.
5.5. Integrated LED Work Light
The drill is equipped with an integrated LED light that illuminates the work area when the trigger is pressed. This feature is particularly useful when working in dimly lit spaces or dark corners.

This image shows the drill being used in an overhead, enclosed area, with the integrated LED light illuminating the workspace. This feature is beneficial for working in dark corners or tight spots.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your drill.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation openings of the drill clean to prevent overheating. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the tool. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery Care: Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not store fully discharged batteries for extended periods. Recharge them periodically if not in use.
- Storage: When not in use, store the drill, battery, and charger in the provided carry case in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
