1. Introduction

3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

Carefully unpack the UPS and inspect it for any shipping damage. The package should include the APC Easy UPS BVX unit and a user manual.

3.2 Connecting the Battery

The UPS is shipped with the battery disconnected for safety. Before use, you must connect the internal battery. Locate the battery connector on the rear panel of the UPS. Push the yellow battery connector into the corresponding slot until it clicks securely into place.

3.3 Connecting Equipment

Connect your electronic devices (e.g., computer, monitor, router) to the IEC-C13 outlets on the rear panel of the UPS. These outlets provide both battery backup and surge protection. Ensure that the total power consumption of connected devices does not exceed the UPS's capacity (650 Watts).

3.4 Initial Charging

Plug the UPS power cord into a grounded wall outlet. Allow the UPS to charge for at least 8 hours before connecting any critical equipment or expecting full runtime. The battery will charge whether the UPS is turned on or off.

4. Operation

4.1 Powering On/Off

To turn on the UPS, press and hold the power button on the front panel until the LED indicator illuminates. To turn off the UPS, press and hold the power button again until the LED indicator turns off.

4.2 LED Indicators

The front panel features an LED indicator that provides status information:

• Solid Green: The UPS is on and providing power from the utility.
• Flashing Green: The UPS is operating on battery power.

4.3 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

The UPS is equipped with Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) technology. This feature automatically corrects minor voltage fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power, thus preserving battery life and providing stable power to your connected devices.

4.4 Battery Backup Operation

During a power outage, the UPS will automatically switch to battery power, providing continuous power to connected devices. An audible alarm will sound, and the LED indicator will flash green. The duration of battery backup depends on the load connected. When utility power returns, the UPS will automatically switch back to utility power and recharge its battery.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Replacement

The UPS uses a sealed lead-acid battery. The battery is not user-replaceable. Contact APC customer support or a qualified service technician for battery replacement. Always replace the battery with an APC-approved battery to ensure safety and optimal performance.

5.2 Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure the ventilation openings are free from dust and debris to prevent overheating.

5.3 Storage

If storing the UPS for an extended period, ensure the battery is fully charged. Store the UPS in a cool, dry location with the battery disconnected. Recharge the battery every three months to prevent permanent damage.
