Introduction

The MK-2089 is a 61-key electronic keyboard designed for both beginners and enthusiasts. It offers a comprehensive set of features to facilitate learning and creative expression, including a wide range of timbres and rhythms, a built-in metronome, and recording capabilities. This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your keyboard.

Before proceeding, ensure all items are present in the package:

Setup

1. Power Connection

  1. Locate the DC 12V power input jack on the rear panel of the keyboard.
  2. Connect the provided AC power adapter to the power input jack.
  3. Plug the AC power adapter into a standard wall outlet.
  4. Press the POWER button on the control panel to turn on the keyboard. The LCD display will illuminate.

2. Music Stand Installation

The adjustable music notes stand can be easily attached to the top of the keyboard:

  1. Identify the two slots on the top rear of the keyboard.
  2. Align the base of the music stand with these slots.
  3. Gently slide the music stand into the slots until it is securely in place.

3. Headphone Connection (Optional)

To practice privately, connect headphones to the HEADPHONE JACK located on the rear panel. Connecting headphones will mute the built-in speakers.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Controls

  • POWER Button: Turns the keyboard on or off.
  • MASTER VOL +/-: Adjusts the overall volume of the keyboard.
  • TEMPO +/-: Adjusts the speed of rhythms and demonstration songs.
  • LCD Display: Shows current settings, selected timbre, rhythm, and other information.

2. Selecting Timbres (Instrument Sounds)

The keyboard features 100 different timbres. To select a timbre:

  1. Press the TIMBRE button.
  2. Use the number pad (0-9) to enter the two-digit code for the desired timbre. Refer to the timbre list printed on the keyboard or in the full manual for codes.
  3. Alternatively, use the +/- buttons to scroll through timbres.

3. Playing Rhythms

The keyboard includes 100 rhythms. To play a rhythm:

  1. Press the RHYTHM button.
  2. Use the number pad (0-9) to enter the two-digit code for the desired rhythm. Refer to the rhythm list printed on the keyboard or in the full manual for codes.
  3. Press START/STOP to begin or end the rhythm.
  4. Use TEMPO +/- to adjust the rhythm speed.

4. Demonstration Songs

The keyboard has 10 demonstration songs. To play them:

  1. Press the DEMO SONG button.
  2. Use the number pad to select a specific song, or press DEMO ALL to play all songs consecutively.
  3. Press START/STOP to stop playback.

5. Recording and Playback

The built-in recorder allows you to record your performances:

  1. Press the REC button to start recording. The REC indicator on the LCD will light up.
  2. Play your desired melody on the keyboard.
  3. Press PLAY to stop recording and play back your recorded melody.
  4. Press PLAY again to stop playback.

6. Other Functions

  • SINGLE FINGER/FINGERED CHORD: Selects chord playing mode.
  • SYNC/FILL-IN: Synchronizes rhythm start with chord playing or adds a fill-in.
  • METRONOME: Activates the metronome for timing practice.
  • SUSTAIN/VIBRATO: Adds sustain or vibrato effect to notes.
  • TUNE/TRANSPOSE: Adjusts the overall pitch of the keyboard.
  • KEYBOARD SPLIT: Divides the keyboard into two sections with different timbres.
  • ONE-KEY/FOLLOW/ENSEMBLE: Learning modes to assist with playing demonstration songs.

Maintenance

Proper care will ensure the longevity of your MK-2089 keyboard:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the surface of the keyboard. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and mild soap, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the keyboard in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping the keyboard or subjecting it to strong impacts. Do not place heavy objects on top of it.
  • Power: Disconnect the power adapter when the keyboard is not in use for extended periods.

Troubleshooting
