5. Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance will ensure the longevity and performance of your Protective Housing:

  • Rinse After Use: After each use in saltwater, rinse the housing thoroughly with fresh water. This prevents salt buildup and corrosion.
  • Inspect Seals: Regularly inspect the rubber seal around the housing door for any debris, cracks, or damage. A clean, intact seal is crucial for maintaining waterproof integrity.
  • Clean Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the flat glass lens. Avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the surface.
  • Storage: Store the housing in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Ensure the housing is dry before storing.

6. Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues and their potential solutions:

  • Water Leakage: If you experience water leakage, immediately remove the camera. Check the rubber seal for any foreign particles (sand, hair, etc.) or damage. Clean the seal and the sealing surface of the housing. Ensure the latch is fully closed and secured. If damage persists, the housing may need replacement.
  • Fogging Inside Housing: Fogging can occur due to temperature differences. Use anti-fog inserts (sold separately) inside the housing to absorb moisture. Ensure the camera and housing are dry before sealing.
  • Buttons Not Responding: Ensure the camera is correctly seated within the housing and that the housing's buttons align with the camera's buttons. Press firmly and deliberately.
  • Mounting Orientation Issues: The included mounting buckle is designed for horizontal orientation. If you require vertical mounting (e.g., for chest straps), you may need a taller mounting buckle, which might be available as part of other GoPro accessory kits.
