5. Setup

5.1 Powering the Unit

The Studebaker SB2002 can be powered by either AC (wall outlet) or DC (batteries).

AC Power Operation:

1. Locate the integrated AC power cord.
2. Plug the AC power cord into a standard 120V AC wall outlet.

DC Battery Operation:

For portable use, the radio can operate on batteries (not included).

1. Ensure the unit is turned off and unplugged from AC power.
2. Open the battery compartment cover, typically located on the bottom or rear of the unit.
3. Insert the required number of 'C' size batteries (refer to the compartment for exact quantity and polarity markings).

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Radio Operation

1. Turn On: Rotate the VOLUME knob clockwise until it clicks and the unit powers on.
2. Select Band: Use the AM/FM band selector switch to choose your desired radio band (AM or FM).
3. Tune Station: Rotate the TUNING dial to scan for radio stations. The frequency scale will indicate the current tuning position.
4. Adjust Volume: Rotate the VOLUME knob to increase or decrease the audio level.
5. Optimize Reception:
   • For FM reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully and adjust its position for the clearest signal.
   • For AM reception, the radio has a built-in ferrite bar antenna. Rotate the entire radio for optimal AM signal reception.
6. Turn Off: Rotate the VOLUME knob counter-clockwise until it clicks and the unit powers off.

6.2 Using the Aux-in Jack

The Aux-in jack allows you to connect external audio devices (e.g., MP3 players, smartphones) to play through the radio's speaker.

1. Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the headphone or line-out jack of your external audio device.
2. Connect the other end of the 3.5mm audio cable to the AUX IN jack on the side of the radio.
3. Turn on the radio and adjust the VOLUME knob.
4. Start playback on your external audio device. The audio will now play through the radio's speaker.
5. Control playback (play/pause, track skip) and primary volume from your external device.

6.3 Using the Headphone Jack

For private listening, connect standard 3.5mm stereo headphones (not included) to the headphone jack.

1. Plug your headphones into the HEADPHONE jack on the side of the radio.
2. The radio's speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.
3. Adjust the volume using the VOLUME knob on the radio.
