2. Camera Connection (PoE)

The system utilizes Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, simplifying installation. Connect each IP camera directly to one of the NVR's 16 PoE ports using the provided Ethernet cables. The cameras will receive both power and data through a single cable. This is a plug-and-play setup, requiring no complex IP configurations.

4. Initial Setup Wizard

Upon first power-up, the NVR will guide you through an initial setup wizard on the connected monitor. Follow the on-screen prompts to configure basic settings such as language, date/time, network settings, and user passwords. It is crucial to set strong passwords for security.

Operating the System

1. Remote Viewing

Access your security system remotely using the free mobile application for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, or via standard web browsers on Windows and Mac computers. To set up mobile viewing, download the app, scan the QR code displayed on the NVR, and follow the in-app instructions for live viewing and recording playback.

2. AI Features: Face Recognition, Human/Vehicle Detection

The AI cameras in this system are equipped with intelligent facial recognition and human/vehicle detection software. These features help maximize security by reducing false alarms and providing specific alerts.

  • Face Recognition: The system can recognize familiar faces and send alerts for unknown faces. You can pre-load images of known individuals.
  • Human/Vehicle Detection: Configure cameras to detect only human or vehicle movement, reducing notifications from other sources like animals or swaying branches.

Each camera can be configured for either advanced Human/Vehicle motion detection or advanced Face Recognition. General motion detection remains available on all channels.

3. Recording Modes

The NVR supports various recording modes, including continuous 24/7 recording and motion-activated recording. H.265 video compression technology ensures efficient storage utilization without compromising 4K video quality.

4. Night Vision

The cameras are equipped with 18Pcs Super SMD LEDs, providing up to 100ft (30 meters) of infrared night vision for clear surveillance in low-light or no-light conditions.

2. Hard Drive Management

The NVR's H.265 compression helps optimize storage. Periodically review recorded footage and back up important data to an external USB storage device as needed. The NVR supports up to 10 users for video file queries and playback.

3. Software Updates

Check the GW Security website periodically for firmware updates for your NVR and cameras. Keeping your system updated ensures optimal performance and access to new features.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your system, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Video Output to Monitor: Ensure all cables (HDMI/VGA, power) are securely connected. Try restarting the NVR. If the issue persists, try a different monitor or cable.
  • "Not Enough Resources" Message: This can occur when attempting to view too many high-resolution camera feeds simultaneously. Try reducing the number of live views or adjusting stream settings.
  • Camera Not Displaying: Verify the Ethernet cable connection to the NVR's PoE port. Ensure the camera is receiving power (check NVR's PoE port status indicators).
  • Remote Access Issues: Confirm your NVR is connected to the internet. Check network settings and ensure the mobile app or web browser is configured correctly using the QR code.
  • Motion Detection Not Working: Review camera settings for motion detection zones and sensitivity. Ensure the feature is enabled.
