1. Introduction

4. Setup Instructions

  2. Attach the ceiling mount bracket to the desired surface using the provided screws and wall anchors.
  3. Align the AP One AX with the bracket and twist to secure it in place.

4.2 Powering the Device

The AP One AX can be powered in two ways:

  • Power over Ethernet (PoE): Connect an Ethernet cable from a PoE-enabled switch or injector to the 802.3at PoE Ethernet port on the AP One AX. This method provides both power and data connectivity.
  • DC Power Adapter: If PoE is not available, connect a 12V DC power adapter (sold separately) to the 12V DC power input port.

4.3 Network Connection

Connect the AP One AX to your network infrastructure using an Ethernet cable plugged into the 2.5 Multigigabit Ethernet port. This port supports high-speed wired connections.

4.4 Initial Configuration

For initial setup and management, the AP One AX is designed to work with Peplink's InControl Cloud Management platform. Refer to the InControl documentation for detailed steps on adding and configuring your device.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 LED Status Indicators

Monitor the LED indicators on the front of the device to understand its operational status:

  • Power LED: Solid green indicates power is on.
  • Status LED: Indicates system health and connectivity. Refer to the full manual for specific blink patterns.
  • 2.4GHz / 5GHz LEDs: Indicate wireless activity on the respective bands.

5.2 Wireless Network Configuration

Wireless networks (SSIDs) are typically configured and managed through the InControl Cloud Management platform or a local web administration interface. This allows you to set up network names, security protocols (WPA2/WPA3), and other wireless settings.

5.3 Cloud Management with InControl

The AP One AX is optimized for management via Peplink InControl. This platform provides centralized control over multiple devices, firmware updates, monitoring, and advanced network features. Access InControl through a web browser to manage your access point.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Firmware Updates

Regularly update the device firmware to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Firmware updates are typically managed through the InControl platform.

6.2 Cleaning

Keep the access point clean by gently wiping it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.

6.3 Resetting to Factory Defaults

To restore the AP One AX to its factory default settings, locate the recessed reset button on the rear of the device. With the device powered on, use a paperclip or similar pointed object to press and hold the reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs indicate a reset.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AP One AX, consider the following:

  • No Power: Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to a PoE source or that the 12V DC power adapter is securely plugged in. Check the Power LED.
  • No Wi-Fi Signal: Verify that the 2.4GHz and 5GHz LEDs are active. Check your network configuration in InControl or the local web interface.
  • Slow Speeds: Ensure your client devices support Wi-Fi 6. Check for interference from other wireless devices. Verify the Ethernet connection speed.
  • Cannot Access Management Interface: Confirm your device is connected to the network and has an IP address. Try restarting the access point.
