3. Compatibility with Yale Linus Smart Lock
This adjustable cylinder is specifically designed to work with the Yale Linus Smart Lock. It addresses common compatibility issues found with standard Euro profile cylinders, such as:
- No Emergency Function: Standard cylinders without an emergency function cannot be operated from the outside when a key is inserted on the inside. The Linus Adjustable Cylinder resolves this.
- Thumbturn Cylinders: This cylinder is suitable for doors that currently use a thumbturn on the existing cylinder.
The adjustable design ensures that the cylinder can be configured to the precise length required for your door, making it a universal solution for Linus Smart Lock installations.
4. Setup and Installation
Installation typically takes approximately 15 minutes. A screwdriver is required in addition to the two Allen keys provided in the kit.
4.1. Adjusting Cylinder Length
The Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder is designed to replace almost any sized Euro cylinder. Use the appropriate external and internal spacers to match the length of your current cylinder.
- Internal Cylinder Lengths: Adjustable from 30mm minimum to 65mm maximum, in 5mm increments.
- External Cylinder Lengths: Adjustable from 30mm minimum to 60mm maximum, in 5mm increments.

4.2. Physical Installation
- Remove Existing Cylinder: Unscrew the retaining screw on the side of your door that holds the current Euro profile cylinder in place. Insert your key and turn it slightly to align the cam, then pull the cylinder out.
- Adjust New Cylinder: Using the provided spacers and Allen keys, adjust the Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder to match the length of your removed cylinder. Ensure the cam is centered.
- Insert New Cylinder: Insert the adjusted Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder into the door. Ensure the cam is correctly aligned with the door mechanism.
- Secure Cylinder: Re-insert and tighten the retaining screw on the side of the door to secure the new cylinder.
- Install Linus Smart Lock: Follow the instructions provided with your Yale Linus Smart Lock to attach it to the newly installed adjustable cylinder.

5. Operation
Once installed, the Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder functions as a standard Euro profile cylinder. It allows for key operation from the exterior and provides the necessary interface for the Yale Linus Smart Lock on the interior side of the door. The design ensures that the cylinder can be operated with a key from the outside even if the Linus Smart Lock is engaged on the inside.
6. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the visible parts of the cylinder with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Lubrication: If the key insertion or turning becomes stiff, apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant specifically designed for locks. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris.
- Inspection: Regularly check the cylinder for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all screws are tight.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Yale Linus Adjustable Cylinder, consider the following:
- Key not turning smoothly: Ensure the key is fully inserted. Apply lock lubricant if necessary. Check for any obstructions in the keyway.
- Cylinder feels loose: Verify that the retaining screw on the side of the door is securely tightened.
- Difficulty with Linus Smart Lock attachment: Re-check the cylinder length adjustment and ensure it matches your door thickness precisely. Refer to the Linus Smart Lock manual for specific attachment instructions.
