Setup and Installation
The Basslink SM2 is designed for underseat installation in many vehicles. Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety.

Wiring Connections:
The Basslink SM2 requires power, ground, remote turn-on, and audio input connections. Refer to the connection diagram on the unit's control panel (Figure 2) for specific terminal locations.
- Power (+BAT): Connect to the vehicle's positive battery terminal via a fused power cable. Ensure the fuse is located within 18 inches (45 cm) of the battery.
- Ground (GND): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a good electrical connection.
- Remote (REM): Connect to the remote turn-on output of your head unit. If your head unit does not have a remote output, you can use the Basslink SM2's Audio Sense feature.
- Audio Input (Line In / High Level In):
- Line In (RCA): For head units with RCA pre-outs.
- High Level In: For head units without RCA pre-outs, connect directly to the vehicle's speaker wires.
- Remote Bass Level Control: Connect the included remote control to the "REMOTE" port on the Basslink SM2 for convenient bass adjustment from the driver's seat.
Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Basslink SM2 can be tuned to integrate seamlessly with your vehicle's audio system.
Control Panel Adjustments:
- Level: Adjusts the overall output volume of the subwoofer. Start with this control at minimum and slowly increase until the bass blends well with your main speakers.
- Crossover (XOVER): This is a low-pass filter that determines the highest frequency the subwoofer will play. Adjust this to blend with your main speakers. A common starting point is 80Hz-100Hz.
- Phase (0°/180°): Adjusts the phase of the subwoofer's output relative to your main speakers. Listen to music with strong bass and switch between 0° and 180° to find the setting that produces the most impactful and coherent bass.
- Bass Boost: Provides an adjustable boost to specific bass frequencies. Use sparingly to enhance bass impact without distortion.
- Audio Sense (OFF/ON 12V/ON 120mV): Controls how the unit turns on.
- OFF: Requires a remote turn-on signal from the head unit.
- ON 12V: Turns on when a 12V signal is detected on the remote wire.
- ON 120mV: Turns on when an audio signal is detected on the high-level inputs. Useful if your head unit lacks a remote turn-on output.
- Input Load (10K / 120Ω): Adjusts the input impedance for optimal compatibility with different head units. Consult your head unit's manual or experiment to find the best setting.
Remote Bass Level Control:
The wired remote allows you to conveniently adjust the subwoofer's output level from your driving position without accessing the unit directly. This is useful for fine-tuning bass response on the fly for different music genres or listening preferences.
Maintenance
The Basslink SM2 is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
- Ventilation: Ensure the area around the unit remains clear to allow for proper heat dissipation.
