2. Important Safety Instructions
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to your local mains voltage before connecting. Do not immerse the kettle, power base, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.
- Hot Surfaces: The kettle body and lid become hot during and after operation. Always use the handle. Avoid contact with steam escaping from the spout or lid, especially during pouring.
- Water Level: Do not fill above the maximum level indicator or below the minimum level. Overfilling may cause boiling water to eject. Operating with insufficient water can damage the heating element.
- Stability: Always place the kettle on a firm, flat, heat-resistant surface. The anti-slip coating on the base minimizes the risk of accidental movement.
- Automatic Shut-off: The kettle is equipped with a triple safety shut-off system: it automatically turns off when the selected temperature is reached, when there is too little or no water, and when lifted from its base.
- Children and Vulnerable Persons: This appliance can be used by children aged 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
- Maintenance: Unplug the kettle from the power outlet before cleaning and allow it to cool completely.
- Damage: Do not operate the kettle if the cord, plug, or appliance itself is damaged. Contact authorized service for repair.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle and ensure optimal performance.
6.1 Exterior Cleaning
- Unplug the kettle and allow it to cool completely.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
6.2 Cleaning the Anti-Limescale Filter

- Ensure the kettle is unplugged and cool.
- Open the lid. The anti-limescale filter is located behind the spout.
- Gently pull the filter upwards to remove it.
- Rinse the filter under running water and brush off any limescale deposits.
- Reinsert the clean filter until it clicks into place.
6.3 Descaling
Limescale buildup can affect performance and energy efficiency. Descale your kettle regularly, especially in hard water areas.
- Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for electric kettles, such as the recommended AEG Universal Descaler ECF5.
- Follow the instructions provided with the descaling product.
- After descaling, rinse the kettle thoroughly several times with fresh water.
- Boil and discard fresh water two to three times to ensure all descaler residue is removed.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your kettle, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Kettle does not heat:
- Ensure the kettle is properly seated on the power base.
- Check if the power cord is securely plugged into the outlet.
- Verify that the power outlet is functioning (test with another appliance).
- Ensure the Start/Stop button has been pressed.
- Kettle switches off too quickly:
- This may indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle as per section 6.3.
- Ensure there is sufficient water above the MIN level. The triple safety shut-off activates if water levels are too low.
- Water has an unusual taste:
- Perform the 'Before First Use' cleaning steps again (section 4.2).
- Ensure the kettle is regularly descaled.
- Steam escaping from areas other than the spout:
- Ensure the lid is securely closed.
- Check for any damage to the kettle body or lid. Discontinue use if damage is found.
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
