3. Setup

Installation Methods

The iKiKin AP6 offers two primary installation methods to suit your preference and vehicle's interior:

  1. Dashboard Placement with Adjustable Bracket: Secure the device on your dashboard using the adjustable bracket. This method allows for easy angle adjustment.
  2. Adhesive Mounting: Use the provided 3M tape to firmly attach the device to your dashboard or windshield. This method ensures a stable placement without obstructing your view.

Connection

Connect the provided OBD2 cable to your vehicle's OBD2 port. The port is typically located under the dashboard on the driver's side. Route the cable neatly using the crowbar to tuck it away from view and secure it with the 3M tape if necessary.

Mode Selection

The device automatically detects your vehicle's protocol. It defaults to OBD2 + GPS mode. If your vehicle does not support the OBD2 protocol, the device will automatically switch to GPS-only mode, displaying data available via satellite.

Display Interfaces

The iKiKin AP6 features 9 distinct display interfaces, allowing you to customize the information presented. You can switch between these interfaces using the control buttons.

Automatic Light Sensor

The device is equipped with an automatic light sensor that adjusts the display brightness according to ambient light conditions. This ensures clear readability during both day and night driving.

Control Buttons

The device features three control buttons (Left, OK, Right) for navigating menus, selecting options, and switching display interfaces. Refer to the on-screen prompts for specific button functions within each menu.

  • Cable Care: Ensure the OBD2 cable is not pinched or excessively bent, which could damage the internal wiring.
