3.3 Printing Documents and Photos

Send print jobs from your computer or mobile device. The printer supports automatic 2-sided printing (duplex), which can help save paper. Max print speed for monochrome is 15 ppm, and for color is 10 ppm.

3.4 Copying, Scanning, and Faxing

Utilize the 20-sheet Auto Document Feeder (ADF) for quick copying, scanning, or faxing of multi-page documents. The scanner type is Sheetfed. The "Scan to PC" feature allows you to initiate scans directly from the printer, with automatic format guessing (PDF or JPG) and merging of multi-page scans into a single PDF when using the ADF.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Ink Management

The printer uses a 5-Individual Ink System. Monitor ink levels through the printer's display or associated software. The printer is designed to continue printing in black and white even if a color ink cartridge (e.g., magenta) is depleted, providing flexibility for essential tasks.

4.2 Cleaning

Regularly clean the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. For internal cleaning, refer to the on-screen prompts or the full user manual for specific procedures like print head cleaning or roller cleaning to maintain print quality.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Common Issues and Solutions

  • ADF Jam/Error Messages: If the Auto Document Feeder indicates a jam when none is present, or if "cannot communicate to scanner" errors occur, this can sometimes be related to environmental factors like heat or high humidity. Restarting the printer and/or the connected computer often resolves communication issues after periods of inactivity.
  • Connectivity Problems: If the printer loses connection to your network or computer, ensure both devices are powered on and within range of the Wi-Fi signal. Restarting both the printer and the computer can re-establish the connection. Verify network settings on the printer's touchscreen.
  • Print Quality Issues: If print quality degrades (e.g., streaky prints, faded colors), check ink levels and perform print head cleaning or alignment procedures via the printer's maintenance menu.

For more detailed troubleshooting steps, consult the official Canon support website or the comprehensive PDF user manual.
