Important Safety Information

Always read and understand all instructions before using this product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or property damage.

Setup and Assembly

The Scotts 190499 Garden Sprayer comes largely pre-assembled. Follow these steps for initial setup:

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove the sprayer, 3-in-1 nozzle, cleaning kit, and shoulder strap from the packaging.
  2. Attach Hose and Wand: Ensure the hose is securely connected to the sprayer tank and the spray wand is firmly attached to the hose handle.
  3. Prepare for Filling: Unscrew the pump assembly from the top of the tank by turning it counter-clockwise.
  4. Fill the Tank: Pour the desired liquid (water, weed killer, fertilizer, etc.) into the 2-gallon tank. Do not overfill past the maximum fill line.
  5. Secure Pump Assembly: Reinsert the pump assembly into the tank opening and screw it clockwise until it is hand-tight. Ensure a secure seal to maintain pressure.
  6. Attach Shoulder Strap (Optional): If desired, attach the included shoulder strap to the designated loops on the sprayer for easier portability during use.

Operating Instructions

Using your Scotts Garden Sprayer is straightforward. Follow these steps for effective application:

  1. Pressurize the Tank: With the pump assembly securely in place, pump the handle up and down repeatedly until resistance is felt and the tank is pressurized. Approximately 10-20 pumps are usually sufficient, depending on the desired pressure.
  2. Select Spray Pattern: The exclusive 3-in-1 nozzle allows for quick changes in spray pattern.
    • Stream: Twist the nozzle to the 'stream' setting for spot treating weeds or penetrating cracks.
    • Cone: Twist the nozzle to the 'cone' setting for watering or fertilizing plants with a wider, gentler spray.
    • Fan: Twist the nozzle to the 'fan' setting for quickly covering large areas like decks, siding, or concrete walkways.
  3. Begin Spraying: Aim the spray wand at the target area. Squeeze the trigger on the wand handle to begin spraying. For continuous spraying, push the trigger forward to lock it in the open position.
  4. Release Pressure: When finished spraying or before opening the tank, always release the pressure. This is typically done by pulling up on the pressure relief valve located on the pump assembly until air escapes.

Care and Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sprayer.
