2. Setup

2.1 Initial Activation and Time Setting

Your Timex watch is shipped with a crown guard to preserve battery life. Follow these steps to activate your watch and set the time:

  1. Remove the Crown Guard: Gently pull out and remove the small plastic spacer (crown guard) located between the watch crown and the case.
  2. Set the Time: Pull the crown out to the time-setting position. Rotate the crown in either direction until the hour and minute hands display the correct time.
  3. Activate the Watch: Push the crown back into its original position against the watch case. The second hand should begin to move, indicating the watch is now active.

2.2 Adjusting the Leather Strap

The genuine leather strap is adjustable to fit wrist circumferences up to 8 inches. Locate the buckle and the series of holes on the strap. Insert the pin of the buckle into the hole that provides a comfortable and secure fit on your wrist.

3. Operating Features

3.1 Indiglo Night-Light

Your Timex Easy Reader watch features the Indiglo night-light. To activate the Indiglo, press and hold the crown. The entire dial will illuminate for easy reading in low-light conditions.

3.2 Water Resistance

This watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). This means it is suitable for splashes or brief immersion in water. It is not recommended for swimming, bathing, or diving. To maintain water resistance, do not operate the crown while the watch is wet or submerged.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Replacement

Your watch is powered by one Lithium Metal battery (included). When the watch stops running, it indicates that the battery needs to be replaced. Battery replacement should ideally be performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

4.2 Strap Care

The genuine leather strap should be kept dry and clean. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and moisture, as these can cause the leather to crack, fade, or deteriorate. Clean the strap with a soft, damp cloth and allow it to air dry completely.

4.3 Case Care

To clean the watch case and crystal, use a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, which can damage the finish.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Running: Ensure the crown guard has been removed and the crown is fully pushed in. If the watch still does not run, the battery may need replacement.
  • Time Inaccuracy: If the watch is consistently fast or slow, the battery may be low, or the movement may require servicing.
  • Indiglo Not Working: Check if the crown is fully pushed in. If the Indiglo still does not illuminate, the battery may be depleted.

For issues not resolved by these steps, please refer to the Warranty and Support section.
