4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On and Speed Selection
To power on the brush cutter, press the main power button. Use the speed selector switch on the handle to choose between the three available speed settings (4,600/5,500/7,000 RPM). The variable speed trigger allows for fine control over the cutting speed during operation.

4.2 Using the Reverse Rotation Function
If the cutting blade becomes entangled with grass or weeds, activate the reverse rotation function. This feature helps to quickly clear obstructions from the trimmer head without manual intervention. Consult the control panel diagram for the reverse button location.
4.3 Cutting Techniques
Hold the brush cutter firmly with both hands, maintaining a balanced stance. Use a sweeping motion to cut through vegetation. For dense brush, approach gradually, allowing the blade to cut through the material without forcing it. Always keep the blade away from your body and other individuals.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your brush cutter. Always disconnect batteries before performing any maintenance.
5.1 Blade Care and Sharpening
Inspect the blade for damage or dullness before and after each use. A dull blade reduces cutting efficiency and can strain the motor. Sharpen the blade as needed using a hand file, maintaining the original cutting angle. Replace severely damaged or bent blades immediately.
5.2 Cleaning
After each use, clean the brush cutter, especially the cutting head and guard, to remove grass, dirt, and debris. Use a dry cloth or soft brush. Do not use water directly on electrical components. Ensure the air vents are clear to prevent overheating.
5.3 Battery and Charger Care
Store batteries in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not expose batteries to extreme temperatures. Use only Makita-approved chargers for your 18V LXT batteries. Avoid using "knock-off" batteries, as they may pose safety risks including fire or personal injury.
5.4 Tool Storage
Store the brush cutter in a secure, dry location, out of reach of children. The tool includes a convenient hex key storage on the battery housing for easy access during maintenance.
