4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. Follow these guidelines for setting up your Infinity Reference 6001A amplifier.

- Power (B+): Connect to the vehicle's positive battery terminal using an appropriate gauge power cable. Install a fuse holder with a fuse (not included) within 18 inches of the battery.
- Ground (GND): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid electrical connection.
- Remote (REM): Connect to the remote turn-on output of your head unit. This turns the amplifier on and off with your stereo.
- Speaker Output (SUB): Connect your subwoofer(s) to these terminals. Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- RCA Input (IN L/R): Connect to the RCA pre-out outputs of your head unit. If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, use the supplied bare wire-to-RCA adapters with speaker-level inputs.
- Remote Control Port: Connect the remote bass control module here using the provided RJ-25 cable.
5. Operating Instructions
Once installed, adjust the amplifier settings to optimize sound performance for your vehicle and subwoofer.
5.1 Gain Adjustment
The gain control matches the amplifier's input sensitivity to the output of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum, then slowly increase it until you hear distortion, then back it off slightly. This is not a volume control.
5.2 Low-Pass Filter (LPF)
The LPF allows only frequencies below a set point to pass through to the subwoofer. Adjust this to blend the subwoofer's output seamlessly with your main speakers. A common starting point is 80-100 Hz.
5.3 Bass Boost
This control allows you to increase the bass output at a specific frequency. Use sparingly to avoid distortion and potential damage to your subwoofer.
5.4 Phase Switch
The phase switch (0°/180°) helps ensure that the subwoofer's output is in phase with your main speakers. Listen from the driver's seat and select the setting that provides the most impactful and cohesive bass response.
5.5 Remote Bass Control
The included remote bass control module allows for convenient adjustment of the subwoofer's output level from the driver's seat. Connect it to the amplifier's remote control port and mount it in an accessible location.
6. Maintenance
The Infinity Reference 6001A amplifier requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term performance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the amplifier's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the amplifier's cooling fins are free from obstructions to allow for proper heat dissipation.
- Fuses: The amplifier uses 30A ATO fuses. If a fuse blows, replace it only with a fuse of the same type and rating. Using an incorrect fuse can cause damage or fire.
- Connections: Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your amplifier, consult this section before contacting support.
- No Power:
- Check the main fuse near the battery and the fuses on the amplifier.
- Verify power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are secure and have proper voltage.
- No Sound:
- Check RCA or speaker-level input connections from the head unit.
- Verify subwoofer connections and ensure the subwoofer is functioning correctly.
- Check amplifier gain settings.
- Distorted Sound:
- Reduce the gain setting on the amplifier.
- Check for proper LPF and bass boost settings.
- Ensure speaker wires are not shorted or damaged.
- Amplifier Overheating:
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the amplifier.
- Check for proper impedance matching with the subwoofer(s).
- Reduce gain or bass boost settings.
