Setup
Powering the Unit
The MD6949 can be powered by either AC power or batteries.
- AC Power: Connect the supplied AC power cord to the AC IN jack on the unit and then to a standard AC wall outlet.
- Battery Power: For portable use, insert 6 C-size batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the bottom of the unit. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) when inserting batteries.
Note: Disconnect the AC power cord when operating on batteries to prevent potential damage or interference.
Operating Instructions
General Operation
- Power On/Off: Use the Power switch to turn the unit on or off.
- Volume Control: Rotate the VOLUME knob to adjust the audio output level.
- Function Selection: Use the FUNCTION selector to choose between CD, AM, FM, or Bluetooth modes.
CD Playback
- Open the CD compartment door by gently lifting it.
- Place a CD (or CD-R/CD-RW) with the label side facing up onto the spindle.
- Close the CD compartment door securely.
- Set the FUNCTION selector to "CD". The LED display will show "CD" and then the total number of tracks.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.
- Press the PLAY/PAUSE button again to pause playback; press it once more to resume.
- Press the STOP button to stop playback.
- Use the SKIP FORWARD (>>|) or SKIP BACKWARD (|<<) buttons to navigate between tracks. Hold these buttons to fast forward or rewind within a track.
- Program Play: While in STOP mode, press the PROGRAM button. The LED display will show "P01". Use the SKIP buttons to select your desired track, then press PROGRAM again to confirm. Repeat for up to 20 tracks. Press PLAY to start programmed playback.

AM/FM Radio Operation
- Set the FUNCTION selector to "AM" or "FM".
- Extend the FM telescopic antenna for optimal FM reception. For AM reception, rotate the unit for best signal.
- Rotate the TUNING knob to select your desired radio station. The frequency will be displayed on the LED screen.
Bluetooth Pairing and Playback
- Set the FUNCTION selector to "Bluetooth". The LED display will show "BT" and flash, indicating it is in pairing mode.
- Enable Bluetooth on your external device (e.g., smartphone, tablet) and search for available devices.
- Select "MD6949" from the list of devices. Once paired, the "BT" indicator on the boombox will stop flashing and remain solid.
- You can now play audio from your connected device through the boombox. Use your device's controls for track navigation and playback.

AUX Input Operation
- Connect one end of a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the AUX OUT/Headphone jack of your external audio device.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the AUX IN jack on the MD6949.
- Set the FUNCTION selector to "AUX".
- Play audio from your external device. The sound will be output through the boombox speakers.
Important: The 3.5mm AUX-In jack is for audio input only and is not designed for headphone output.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- CD Lens Care: If the CD lens becomes dirty, use a commercially available CD lens cleaner.
- Battery Replacement: Replace all batteries with new ones when the unit's performance diminishes or when the battery indicator (if present) shows low power. Remove batteries if the unit will not be used for an extended period.
- Storage: Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Troubleshooting
