4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to prepare and plant your seeds using the iDOO Seed Pods Kit:

  1. Pre-soak Growth Sponges: Soak the growth sponges in water for 10-15 minutes until they expand and are fully saturated.
  2. Assemble Grow Pods: Insert one pre-soaked growth sponge into each grow basket.
  3. Add Seeds: Using tweezers, carefully place 2-3 seeds into the hole at the top of each growth sponge. (For best results, pre-soak seeds in warm water for 4-12 hours before planting).
  4. Apply Pod Labels: Stick a pod label onto the top edge of each grow basket. You can write the plant name on the label for easy identification.
  5. Place Grow Domes: Cover each grow pod with a clear grow dome. This helps maintain humidity for optimal germination.
  6. Insert into System: Place the assembled grow pods into the designated planting holes of your hydroponics system.
  7. Prepare and Add Plant Food: Mix Plant Food A and Plant Food B separately with 100ml of water each, shaking well. Then, add the appropriate amount of mixed nutrient solution to your hydroponics system's water reservoir based on the number of pods (e.g., 5ml A + 5ml B for 3 pods, 10ml A + 10ml B for 6 pods, 15ml A + 15ml B for 9 pods, 20ml A + 20ml B for 12 pods).
  8. Connect Power & Select Mode: Plug in your hydroponics system and select the appropriate growth mode (e.g., Veg Mode for leafy greens, Flower/Fruit Mode for flowering/fruiting plants) for germination.

5. Operating Instructions

  • Monitor Water Level: Regularly check the water level in your hydroponics system's reservoir. Ensure it remains above the minimum fill line to keep roots hydrated.
  • Nutrient Replenishment: Add the appropriate amount of mixed A&B plant food solution every 1-2 weeks, or as indicated by your hydroponics system's instructions, to maintain optimal nutrient levels.
  • Light Cycle: Follow your hydroponics system's recommended light cycle settings for the specific plants you are growing. Adjust the light height as plants grow to maintain optimal distance.
  • Harvesting: Harvest mature plants by cutting the leaves or fruits, allowing the plant to continue producing. Avoid pulling the entire plant out by the roots if you wish for continuous growth.

6. Maintenance & Care

  • Clean Components: Grow baskets and domes are washable and reusable. Clean them thoroughly between planting cycles to prevent disease and algae buildup.
  • Replace Growth Sponges: Replace growth sponges after each harvest. New sponges are essential for helping germination and promoting healthy root development for new seedlings.
  • System Cleaning: Periodically clean the entire hydroponics system reservoir and pump to ensure optimal performance and prevent nutrient imbalances.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Poor Germination: Ensure seeds are fresh and viable. Verify that grow domes are in place to maintain humidity and that sponges are adequately moist. Check water temperature if your system allows.
  • Slow Growth/Yellowing Leaves: This often indicates a nutrient deficiency or incorrect pH level. Ensure you are using the correct concentration of plant food and replenishing it regularly. Consult your hydroponics system manual for pH adjustment guidelines.
  • Algae Growth: Algae can form due to excessive light exposure to the water reservoir or nutrient solution. Ensure all planting holes are covered and the system is not exposed to direct sunlight. Regular cleaning helps.
