Operating Instructions
The KENKO kk-82ms-d features a S-V.A.P.M (Super Visually Perfect Algebraic Method) operating system, allowing for natural input and display of mathematical expressions. It has a dual-line LCD display, showing the formula on the upper line and the result on the lower line simultaneously.
Basic Arithmetic Operations
- Addition (+), Subtraction (-), Multiplication (×), Division (÷): Enter the first number, press the desired operator key, enter the second number, then press =.
- Parentheses: Use the ( and ) keys to group operations.
Scientific Functions (240 Functions)
The calculator offers 240 scientific functions, including trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential, and statistical calculations. Many functions are accessed by pressing the SHIFT key followed by the desired function key.
- Trigonometric Functions (sin, cos, tan): Enter the angle value, then press sin, cos, or tan. For inverse functions (sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹, tan⁻¹), press SHIFT then the respective key.
- Logarithmic Functions (log, ln): Press log for base-10 logarithm or ln for natural logarithm, then enter the number. For 10x or ex, press SHIFT then log or ln respectively.
- Power and Root Functions (x², x³, √, ³√): Use the dedicated keys for squares and square roots. For cubes and cube roots, press SHIFT then the respective key.
- Fractions (ab/c, d/c): Use the fraction keys to input and calculate with fractions.
- Statistical Calculations: The calculator includes a STAT data editor. To enter STAT mode, press MODE, then select the STAT option. Refer to the on-screen prompts for data entry and statistical calculations.
Memory Functions (9 Memories)
The calculator has 9 independent memories (A-F, X, Y, M) for storing values. Use the STO (Store) and RCL (Recall) keys in conjunction with the variable keys to manage memory.
- Store: Enter a value, press STO, then press the desired memory key (e.g., A).
- Recall: Press RCL, then press the desired memory key to retrieve the stored value.
- Memory Plus (M+): Adds the displayed value to the independent memory.
- Memory Minus (M-): Subtracts the displayed value from the independent memory.
Multi-Replay Function
The Multi-Replay function allows you to scroll through previously entered calculations and results. Use the REPLAY directional keys (up, down, left, right) to navigate through the calculation history. This is useful for reviewing or editing past entries.
Angle Units (Degrees, Radians, Gradians)
The calculator supports three angle units: Degrees (DEG), Radians (RAD), and Gradians (GRA). To change the angle unit, press MODE repeatedly until the desired unit appears on the display, or use the DRG key if available.

Maintenance
Cleaning
To clean the calculator, gently wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and mild soap, then wipe dry immediately. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or spray cleaners directly onto the calculator.
Battery Replacement
When the display becomes dim or the calculator functions erratically, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the "Setup" section. Always replace both AA batteries at the same time.
Storage
Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
Troubleshooting
- Calculator does not turn on:
- Check if batteries are installed correctly with correct polarity.
- Replace old or depleted batteries with new AA batteries.
- Ensure the battery compartment cover is securely closed.
- Display is dim or blank:
- Batteries may be low. Replace them.
- Ensure the calculator is not exposed to extreme cold, which can affect LCD performance.
- Incorrect results or calculator freezes:
- Press the AC (All Clear) button to clear the current calculation.
- If the issue persists, try resetting the calculator. Locate the small "RESET" button (often a small hole) on the back or side of the calculator. Use a thin, pointed object (like a paperclip) to gently press this button. Note that resetting may clear all memory contents.
- Review your input for correct syntax and order of operations.
- Keys are unresponsive:
- Ensure no debris is lodged under the keys.
- If the calculator has been exposed to liquids, allow it to dry completely.
