Operating Instructions
Performing a Blood Glucose Test
Follow these steps to perform a blood glucose test:
- Prepare: Wash and dry your hands thoroughly. Ensure you have a fresh test strip and lancing device ready.
- Insert Test Strip: Insert a new test strip into the strip port of the meter. The contact bars should be inserted first and facing up. The meter will automatically turn on and voice "Power On". If the test strip is inserted incorrectly, the meter will not turn on.
- Apply Blood Sample: Once the meter indicates it's ready (strip icon with blood sample icon blinking, and voice prompt "Please apply blood to the test strip"), touch the blood sample to the sample tip at the end of the test strip. The meter will beep to indicate sufficient sample and begin countdown. If you applied a drop of blood but do not see the countdown begin, you may reapply a second drop of blood within 3 seconds.
- Read Result: After the countdown, the blood glucose level will be voice broadcast and displayed on the screen. The measurement unit, date, and time of the test will also be displayed.
- Discard Test Strip: Slide forward the strip ejector to discard the used test strip safely.

Understanding Results
Blood glucose results are automatically stored in the meter's memory. The meter may display specific messages:
- "HI" Message: Indicates a measured concentration value above 33.3 mmol/L (600 mg/dL). Retake the test to ensure no procedural error. If consistently "HI", it indicates severe hyperglycemia (high blood glucose). Contact your doctor immediately.
- "LO" Message: Indicates a measured concentration value below 0.6 mmol/L (10 mg/dL). Retake the test to ensure no procedural error. If consistently "LO", it may indicate severe hypoglycemia (low blood glucose). Treat yourself for hypoglycemia immediately as recommended by your healthcare provider.
- Invalid Result: If an invalid result is marked, run the test again with a new test strip.
Maintenance
Cleaning and Storage
Keep the meter clean and store it in a cool, dry place between 41-86°F (5-30°C) and 10-90% relative humidity, away from direct sunlight. Do not immerse the meter in water or other liquids.
Battery Replacement
The meter operates on two AAA batteries. When the battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting new batteries.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your meter, refer to the following table for common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter does not turn on | Batteries are low or incorrectly inserted; Test strip inserted incorrectly. | Replace batteries; Ensure batteries are correctly inserted; Reinsert test strip correctly. |
| "HI" or "LO" message displayed | Blood glucose level is outside the meter's measurable range. | Retest with a new strip. If results are consistent, contact your healthcare provider immediately. |
| Error message (e.g., E-1, E-2) | Various issues such as strip error, temperature out of range, or meter malfunction. | Refer to the full user manual for specific error codes. Re-test with a new strip. If the error persists, contact customer support. |
| Inconsistent results | Improper testing technique, expired test strips, or environmental factors. | Review testing procedure, check strip expiration date, ensure proper storage conditions. Perform a control solution test. |
