3. Setup

3.1 Placement

Place the receiver on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Ensure there is sufficient space around the unit for heat dissipation. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

3.2 Connecting Speakers

Connect your speakers to the corresponding terminals on the rear panel of the receiver. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each speaker. The RX-A6A supports up to 9.2 channels (11.2-channel processing) with options for Zone 2/3/4.

3.3 Connecting Audio/Video Devices

Use HDMI cables to connect your video sources (e.g., Blu-ray player, gaming console, cable box) to the HDMI INPUT terminals. Connect your TV or projector to the HDMI OUT terminal. The receiver features 7 HDMI inputs and 3 HDMI outputs, all supporting 8K60 and 4K120 (40 Gbps) with HDCP 2.3 and eARC.

3.4 Network Setup

Connect the receiver to your home network via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. This enables access to streaming services, firmware updates, and control via the MusicCast app.

3.5 YPAO Calibration

Utilize the included YPAO (Yamaha Parametric Acoustic Optimizer) microphone to automatically calibrate your speaker system for optimal sound performance in your listening environment. Place the microphone at your primary listening position and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Operation

Power On/Off: Press the power button on the front panel or the remote control.

Input Selection: Use the INPUT selector buttons on the front panel or remote to choose your desired audio/video source.

Volume Control: Adjust the master volume knob on the front panel or the volume buttons on the remote control.

4.3 Network Features

Connect your receiver to a network to access the following features:

  • MusicCast: Yamaha's multi-room audio system for streaming music throughout your home.
  • AirPlay 2 & Bluetooth: Stream audio wirelessly from compatible devices.
  • Spotify Connect: Directly stream music from the Spotify app.
  • Works with Sonos: Integrate the receiver into an existing Sonos system using a Sonos Port (sold separately).

4.4 Voice Control

The receiver is compatible with various voice assistants:

  • Amazon Alexa: Control basic functions using Alexa-enabled devices.
  • Google Assistant: Use Google Assistant for voice commands.
  • Siri: Available via AirPlay 2 for Apple device users.

4.5 Multi-Zone Operation

The RX-A6A supports multi-zone audio, allowing you to enjoy different audio sources in up to four separate zones (Zone 2, Zone 3, Zone 4) simultaneously.
