1. Setup
1.1 Unpacking and Initial Placement
Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Ensure all protective tapes and packing materials are removed from the exterior and interior of the printer. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface with adequate space for ventilation and paper trays.

1.3 Connecting Power
Connect the power cord to the printer's power input and then to a grounded electrical outlet. Do not connect the printer to a power strip or surge protector during initial setup to avoid potential issues.
1.4 Installing Ink Cartridges
Open the ink cartridge cover. Shake each ink cartridge gently before unwrapping. Insert each cartridge into its corresponding color slot until it clicks into place. Close the cover. The printer will begin an initial charging process, which may take several minutes.

1.5 Loading Paper
The WF-7840 features two 250-sheet front paper trays and a 50-sheet rear tray, providing a total capacity of 500 sheets. Load paper into the desired tray, adjusting the paper guides to fit the paper size. The printer supports wide-format printing up to 13" x 19".

1.6 Software Installation and Connectivity

2.1 Printing
The printer delivers high-speed prints with 25 black/12 color ISO ppm. It supports auto 2-sided printing (duplex) and wide-format printing up to 13" x 19".
- From a Computer: Select the Epson WF-7840 as your printer in your application's print dialog. Adjust settings such as paper size, type, print quality, and duplex options as needed.
- Mobile Printing: Use the Epson Smart Panel App for enhanced connectivity and productivity from your mobile device. This app allows you to print documents and photos directly from your smartphone or tablet.

2.2 Copying
Place your document on the scanner glass or in the 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). On the touchscreen, select the "Copy" function. You can adjust settings like number of copies, color/black & white, paper size, and 2-sided copying.
2.3 Scanning
Place your document on the scanner glass or in the ADF. Select the "Scan" function on the touchscreen. You can choose to scan to a computer, cloud service, or email. The Epson ScanSmart software supports easy scanning and editing with a user-friendly interface.
2.4 Faxing
Connect a phone line to the printer's FAX port. Use the touchscreen to enter the recipient's fax number or select from stored contacts. Place your document in the ADF or on the scanner glass and initiate the fax transmission.
3. Maintenance
3.1 Replacing Ink Cartridges
When an ink cartridge is low or empty, a message will appear on the printer's screen. Open the ink cartridge cover, press the tab on the empty cartridge to release it, and remove it. Insert a new genuine Epson DURABrite Ultra ink cartridge into the correct slot until it clicks. Close the cover. The printer will automatically prepare the new cartridge for use.
Note: This product uses only genuine Epson-brand cartridges. Other brands of ink cartridges and ink supplies are not compatible and may not function properly.
3.2 Cleaning the Printer
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth.
- Scanner Glass: Clean the scanner glass with a soft, lint-free cloth moistened with a small amount of glass cleaner. Do not spray cleaner directly onto the glass.
- Print Head Cleaning: If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, banding), perform a print head cleaning cycle through the printer's maintenance menu on the touchscreen or via the printer software on your computer.
- Print Head Alignment: If prints are blurry or misaligned, perform a print head alignment through the printer's maintenance menu.
