4.2 Zeroing at Any Point

The ZERO button allows you to reset the display to zero at any position. This is useful for differential measurements or when measuring relative distances from a specific point.

4.3 Measurement Modes

The Adoric Digital Caliper supports four types of measurements:

Four measurement modes: external, internal, depth, and step

Image 4.2: Demonstrating the four measurement modes of the digital caliper.

  • External Diameter Measurement: Use the large external jaws to measure the outside dimensions of an object. Place the object between the jaws and slide them until they firmly contact the object. Read the measurement on the LCD.
  • Internal Diameter Measurement: Use the small internal jaws to measure the inside dimensions of an object. Insert the internal jaws into the object and expand them until they firmly contact the inner surfaces. Read the measurement on the LCD.
  • Depth Measurement: Use the depth measuring blade located at the end of the movable jaw. Place the end of the main beam on the top surface of the object and extend the depth blade into the hole or recess until it touches the bottom. Read the measurement on the LCD.
  • Step Measurement: Use the step face at the end of the main beam. Place the step face against one surface of the object and slide the movable jaw until its end contacts the other surface. Read the measurement on the LCD.

For precise readings, ensure the caliper jaws are clean and free of debris. Apply gentle, consistent pressure when taking measurements.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Regularly clean the caliper with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the electronic components or the finish. Keep the measuring surfaces free from dust, dirt, and oil to ensure accuracy.

5.2 Storage

When not in use, store the caliper in its protective case in a dry environment. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, or high humidity. Ensure the jaws are slightly open to prevent strain on the measuring surfaces.

5.3 Battery Replacement

If the LCD display becomes dim or erratic, it is time to replace the LR44 battery. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in Section 3.1.

5.4 Water Resistance

The caliper features an IP54 rating, making it resistant to splashes of water, oil, and dust. However, it is not fully waterproof and should not be immersed in water.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Display Not Working:
    - Check if the caliper is powered on. Press the ON/OFF button.
    - Ensure the battery is correctly installed with the positive (+) side up.
    - Replace the LR44 battery if it is depleted.
  • Inaccurate Readings:
    - Clean the measuring surfaces and the main beam to remove any debris.
    - Ensure the jaws are fully closed and press the ZERO button to re-zero the caliper.
    - Avoid applying excessive force during measurement, which can cause deflection.
  • Caliper Does Not Slide Smoothly:
    - Clean the main beam and the sliding mechanism. A small amount of light machine oil can be applied to the sliding surfaces, then wiped clean to remove excess.
