Setup

1. Powering On and Charging

The i-box Spectrum radio features a built-in rechargeable battery, providing up to 15 hours of playback on a single charge. It can also be powered directly via the mains.

  • To charge the radio, connect the supplied Micro USB cable to the Micro USB port on the radio and the other end to a USB power adapter (not supplied) or a computer USB port.
  • The battery indicator on the LCD display will show charging status.
  • For first use, it is recommended to fully charge the battery.

2. Antenna Adjustment

Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal reception, especially when using DAB/DAB+ or FM radio.

3. Initial Scan (First Use)

When you power on the radio for the first time, it will automatically perform a full scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations. This process may take a few minutes.

  • Ensure the antenna is extended.
  • Press the Power button to turn on the radio.
  • The radio will display "Scanning..." and show the progress.
  • Once the scan is complete, the radio will tune to the first available station.

Operating Instructions

1. Switching Between DAB/DAB+ and FM Modes

Press the DAB/FM button to toggle between DAB/DAB+ digital radio and FM analog radio modes.

2. DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation

  • Scanning for Stations: If you move the radio to a new location or wish to update the station list, press and hold the Enter/Scan button to perform a full scan.
  • Selecting Stations: Use the Up/Down navigation buttons to browse through the available DAB/DAB+ stations. Press Enter/Scan to select a station.
  • Storing Presets: The radio allows you to store up to 30 DAB/DAB+ stations as presets.
    1. Tune to the desired station.
    2. Press and hold the Preset button until "Preset Store" appears on the display.
    3. Use the Up/Down buttons to select a preset number (1-30).
    4. Press Enter/Scan to confirm and save the station.
  • Recalling Presets:
    • For presets 1-5, simply press the corresponding numbered button (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) on the top of the radio.
    • For presets 6-30, press the Preset button (short press) to enter the preset recall list. Use the Up/Down buttons to navigate and Enter/Scan to select.

3. FM Radio Operation

  • Scanning for Stations: In FM mode, press and hold the Enter/Scan button to perform an auto-scan for FM stations. The radio will stop on the next available strong signal.
  • Manual Tuning: Use the Up/Down navigation buttons for fine-tuning the frequency.
  • Storing Presets: The radio allows you to store up to 30 FM stations as presets. The process is identical to storing DAB/DAB+ presets.
    1. Tune to the desired FM station.
    2. Press and hold the Preset button until "Preset Store" appears.
    3. Use the Up/Down buttons to select a preset number (1-30).
    4. Press Enter/Scan to confirm.
  • Recalling Presets: Similar to DAB/DAB+ presets, use the numbered buttons for 1-5 or the Preset button for the full list.

4. Volume Control

Rotate the Volume Dial on the right side of the radio to increase or decrease the audio output.

5. Personal Listening (Headphones)

Connect standard 3.5mm headphones to the headphone jack located on the radio for private listening. The internal speaker will automatically mute when headphones are connected.

6. Sleep Timer

The radio features a convenient sleep timer that automatically turns off the radio after a set period.

  • Press the Info/Menu button repeatedly until "Sleep" appears.
  • Use the Up/Down buttons to select the desired sleep duration (e.g., 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120 minutes, or Off).
  • Press Enter/Scan to confirm your selection.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the radio in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
