3. Setup

Before using your OneTouch Verio Flex system, follow these steps to prepare the device for testing.

3.1 Battery Installation

The meter requires 1 Lithium Metal battery, which is included. Ensure the battery is correctly inserted according to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment.

3.2 Setting up the Lancing Device

  1. Remove the cap from the OneTouch Delica Plus Lancing Device.
  2. Insert a new sterile OneTouch Delica Plus Lancet firmly into the lancing device.
  3. Twist off the protective cap from the lancet and replace the lancing device cap.
  4. Adjust the depth setting on the lancing device to a comfortable level (e.g., 1 for sensitive skin, higher for thicker skin).

4. Operation: Performing a Blood Glucose Test

Follow these steps to perform a blood glucose test with your OneTouch Verio Flex system:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely.
  2. Insert a OneTouch Verio Test Strip into the meter's test port. The meter will turn on automatically.
  3. When the blood drop symbol appears on the display, use the lancing device to prick the side of your fingertip.
  4. Gently squeeze your finger to obtain a small drop of blood.
  5. Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip.
  6. The meter will display your blood glucose result in approximately 5 seconds.
  7. Note the ColorSure Plus Technology, which provides instant feedback on whether your result is within, above, or below your target range.
  8. Remove and discard the used test strip and lancet safely.

5. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your monitoring system.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the meter and lancing device with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse in water.
  • Storage: Store the meter, test strips, and lancing device in the provided carrying case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your OneTouch Verio Flex system, consider the following:

  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure test strips are not expired and are stored correctly. Check that the lancing device is set to an appropriate depth for sufficient blood sample.
  • Error Messages: Refer to the full Owner's Booklet for a complete list of error codes and their solutions.
  • Connectivity Issues: If using the OneTouch Reveal app, ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your device and the meter is paired correctly.
